I simply do not understand the ISSF's fetish for regulating the most insignificant details of the sport. Can anyone explain why they seem to feel obligated to be that way? Shooting is a technical sport so the ISSF are supposed to ensure that nobody can change the essential nature of the sport or ga...

Re: ISSF Rapid Fire pistol: New rules from 2005 - official

I've been looking for some discussion about this "no change pistol" rule. Isn't the new rule completely different? The initial posting on this thread lost the formatting (and with it the meaning) when being copied. It makes more sense if you read it as:- Targets: No change Program: No cha...

What? Additional shot? And what? Shooter is allowed to make TWO such mistakes without any amandment. Third mistake causes -2 points... Did he shoot 41 shots in kneeling??? Must presume that he fired 41 shots in kneeling, 2 point deduction under 7.6.6.2. I am not certain how that can happen with ele...

Thanks for the clarification. I've seen it stated as one quota place per event, probably a dodgy translation. I am fairly sure (I do not have an old book with me) that it was one per shooter per event when the rules were published in 2001 (1st printing). I think it was 2002 or 2003 that it changed ...

But from what I have read, not against the rules. Gloves are allowed in the rules with no mention of them only being allowed on one hand. Therefore they are allowed on both hands.

Or am I missing something.

Even if Terry Anderson had won a quota place (which he did not), it would have been for the U.S. and not for himself. Any U.S. shooter with an MQS in Rapid would have been able to fill it.

Quite simple really, no U.S. shooter won a quota place in Rapid.

You're wrong I'm afraid. The first sentance od rule Q.6.1 states "One shooter can obtain only one quota place for his country (NOC)."

And what about 7.4.9 "....garments which immobilize or unduly reduce the movement of the shooter's legs, body or arms is prohibited...." But that's another story ;^) Out of interest, I'm a pistol shooter, but what rule stops rifle shooters from wearing one glove on each hand. Had a quick l...

Re: Please explain impact of Rapid Fire rule changes

Which of the rule changes are causing equipment changes and how will the equipment change? To answer your question, it is specifically rule 8.6.4.8 which says:- Specific Rules for the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Event Targets: No change Program: No change Pistol: All measurements and weights as described...

Re: Free Pistol Slots

I'm not quite sure I understand the logic. I looked at the results posted from the Olympics and Daryl and Jason shot Free pistol for score. Do you mean they were allowed to enter the event because they were already there for Air pistol? That doesn't seem fair. Thanks for a reply. You might like to ...

Does anybody know if there is a story behind Luna Tao's "disaster" in the AP40, or did she just have a bitch of a shoot.

Her failure to even make the final, finishing 38th, is the surprise of the games so far.
