I'm 2+ months "older" than JB.
I truly appreciate the forum and our generous host!!!
I was 15 years old in 1992 and you were an Olympic medalist.

Neither you nor I are teenager Olympic medalists like Kim Rhode.

Thus you're definitely "older" than I am :D

Re: Wavering and Leaning

Turn your toes in about 10°.

Get your regular shooting stance, then pivot your right foot counterclockwise 5°, and pivot your left foot clockwise 5°. Just that.

Thank me later.

Re: Recommendation for a cross-trainer air pistol

Yeah, keeping my eyes open for a deal. I do know what to look for, with the added bonus that my cousin also has been into SCUBA diving, so PCP gun might not be quite so prohibitive as it would be for a complete novice. My gut reaction (woefully outdated) was “spend $1800 on a Steyr LP10. Buy once, c...

Recommendation for a cross-trainer air pistol

Hello, I'm somewhat embarrassed to ask this, as I should know the answer. However, I've learned that "I don't know" is a pretty powerful phrase. I have a relative who recently got into PRS (Precision Rifle Series? I think it's that discipline with running around with rifles and shooting ta...

Re: 25m RFP Proposed changes

Having been involved in this sport for going on three decades, ISSF seems hell-bent on destroying Rapid Fire Pistol. "Start from zero" in the finals is straight garbage. "...presenting results in a more friendly way for a better understanding and more exciting final competition" ...

Re: Am I too old?

I heard a rumor (unfounded) that a washed-up has-been 46YO won the President's Pistol Match at Camp Perry in 2023. I heard another rumor that 2nd place in that match was a Senior.

It's not ISSF pistol, but it is iron sights.

You might be OK.

Re: For Sale: Hammerli 120, White Lettering; one marked Switzerland

I bought a Hammerli 120 the seller 6-7? years ago. The transaction was smooth and the gun was received as advertised. I have purchased several guns now from _J_, and I can say that he knows his firearms, he describes them accurately, he prices them fairly, and he communicates well throughout the pr...

I can't be bothered to read the entire thread, but Roger:

Bob was a true treasure. I was privileged to know him. Why they squirreled him away with us ne'er-do-wells on the 25m range, I never could figure out, but we sure benefited from his wisdom and good humor.

Godspeed, friend.

Re: CISM Military Rapid Fire

That was a course of fire that I always wanted to try, but I never joined the military. It sounded like loads of fun, and right in my wheelhouse. IIRC, it's 5-shot strings in 10, 8, and 6 seconds, on a single target, with a start from the ready position, in ISSF Center Fire caliber (i.e., .32 - .38 ...

Re: How do you get past 550

Don't worry about the 10's, work on getting rid of the 8's and 7's. Along with that occasional 6. That's what kills your score. David, I have a lot of respect for you; however, in this case, I couldn't disagree more. Learn to shoot Xs (inner 10s). Shoot them a lot. Shoot one every time you pick up ...

Re: Can you use 22 shorts for shooting 50 Meter free pistol?

There are a few shooters who use old rapid fire guns in the Greater Boston Pistol League. It's a 50 foot bullseye league, and if it goes bang & make the right sized holes, it's pretty much OK. I competed in the GBPL for one season a number of years ago. I have many fond, and some odd/funny, mem...

I can't explain that other than every American pistol shooter owns a semiautomatic .22 pistol. The entry fees probably are a disincentive as well.
