[quote="RobStubbs"]I may have misread some bits but I think what has been suggested is to focus on what you want to acheive and not what you don't want. If you set yourself "8's or better", then you are subconsciously accepting an 8 as OK. A bit like saying no 7's or 8's (whateve...

It's worth a read - just got the latest edition on eBay - but if you can find it, "Succesful pistol Shooting" by Laslo Antal is better IMO. They cover a lot of the same ground - as you'd expect - I think Antal goes into better detail. I have seen it quite often on eBay. I bought both when ...

Re: Short fingers

Nik, I too am finger length challenged. On the LP-5 that I had, I used the older style Steyr LP-1 trigger. This will move the trigger back a good deal, and slips right on. And they are reasonably priced. Good luck. Respectfully, Bubba Thanks, Bubba, I'll give it a try. The LP50 trigger seems the sa...

I was shooting a PCP 25m match at the w/e, had a number of fliers I couldn't explain. The shooter next to me suggested I wasn't focussing on the sights, probably letting my focus drift slightly in front/behind them. I was a bit doubtful, then he asked if I saw the pellet in flight? I had for most, i...

Hpaw, You can get the IZH64 in the UK, go to www.decadefirearms.com (I spent ages looking on the web for a UK dealer, failed, then saw an advert in Shooting Sports for these guys, they are the UK Baikal dealers). It costs £299. Might be worth seeing what it would cost to ship from Pilkguns, and/or c...

Re: Sights and grouping

Hi Henno, 2) How often do I need to zero-in my pistol. I found that I need to make minor adjustments before each practice (1 or 2 clicks), or is it just me? 3 possiblities are: (a) the lighting conditions are slightly different - especially when going from indoors to outside and vice-versa (b) shoot...

Greg, I have the Pardini free pistol, albeit the UK version. It is a well made gun and appears robust - although I haven't had it for very long and haven't shot it an awful lot. Mine did have to go back to the gunsmiths for a miss fire. Apparently it is a known problem and easily rectified, mine se...

Re: Steyr LP 10 is a right choice?

LP10 is the best isn't it :)))))
There's nothing worse than buying a new car, weapon, etc and finding that people tell you

(a) you bought the "wrong" one

(b) they could've got it cheaper !

The LP-10 is top-of-the-range, you won't regret buying such a top quality weapon.

Everyone I know shoots duel / rapid fire with point of aim, taking between 18-25 clicks to move from their sub-six hold when shooting the Sport Pistol / Centrefire / Standard Handgun events. The exception to this is the 10 yard rapid fire air pistol event, the new one with black targets the size of ...

A friend at my club has the FAS609, shoots 90+ with it. I like it, as I can get my short stubby finger nicely on the trigger - it fits me FAR batter than my Steyr LP50 does. Doesn't have a built-in gauge on the cylinder, but comes with a manometer you can use. Only comes with a single cylinder AFAIK...

To the International shooters - Yes, here in Oz we are "allowed" to keep our pistols because of the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, and World Cup events. In the UK, we were not so lucky. Shooting handguns in the Commonwealth Games in 2002 - held in the UK - was allowed, but the UK shooters ...

Re: The Olympic Spirit is dead?

For instance, I seem to remember some discussions about the expected glut of .22 short caliber guns on the Aussie and British markets when this caliber is dropped from the Olympics next year. It is my understanding that private ownership of these guns will no longer be allowed once that happens. Ma...

I think sight radius is more important in Free Pistol, as the advantage of longer sight radius - finer adjustment of rear-sight to fore-sight position - matters more over 50m than 10m. I used a sight-base extender on my old FAS604 as the rear notch is very shallow and extending sight base helped me....
