Clear Apertures for Lyman 17a

Does anyone know of a source for clear apertures to fit a Lyman 17a front sight. I purchased a few from Champion Shooters Supply before they closed and am not having any luck finding a new source. I’m looking for a .150, .145, and .140 aperture sizes. Thanks, Tom

Book on Mental Training for Shooting

Has anyone read the books “mental training in shooting“ and/or “the psyche of the shot: sports psychology and competition “? I’m thinking about purchasing one, but in view of the price would like to have the opinion of someone who has read them. Thanks, Tom

Book Recommendations

I’m looking for a book or books to improve my offhand technique and mental approach to shooting in competition. The two I’m considering are the classic “Way of the Rifle” and Mental Training by Anne Jeppesen. I’d appreciate your comments and/or suggestions regarding these books or others you’d recom...

Metallic Silhouette Practice Rifle

Good morning - I’m looking for a rifle to practice shooting both lever action (open sight) and rifle (scope) metallic silhouette. What rifles, if any, are there that would allow me to mount both types of sights? The simplicity of a springer is attractive, however, I’d prefer to use a hold similar to...

Reputable Dealer Question

I’m interested in hearing from anyone who has purchased a used SSP air rifle from an individual by the name of Carel. Is he a reputable individual? Were you satisfied with the rifle? Did it arrive in the condition described in the listing? Is he located in the US? Any additional information would be...

PCP 10 meter rifle for Air Rifle Silhouette

Good evening, I’m looking for recommendations regarding a used PCP rifle to compete in air rifle silhouette matches. I’m 71 and in good shape, however, pumping my FWB 601 surfaced shoulder discomfort that had not previously existed, hence a PCP rifle. A 10 meter rifle would allow me to practice with...

Book Recommendation

I’m looking for a good read on a long airplane ride. My main interest is the mental aspects of shooting especially in competition, however, I’m also interested on information on technique, I.e., shot process. The books I’m Thinking about are Way of the Rifle, Mental Training in Shooting, or the psyc...

Gunsmith in Phoenix

Good evening - the top lever on my Beretta 682 does not close (return to the original position) without my pushing it over after I open it, even then it moves very slow. The gun seemingly locks up tight, however, I want to have it looked at. I have not shot the gun in two years and am guessing that ...

Anschutz Trigger Gunsmith

Good Evening - I'm relatively new to shooting NRA metallic silhouette and in need of trigger work on my Anschutz 1712 with the 5109 2-stage trigger. I am shooting it the way it came from the factory, with I'm guessing 1lb. first and 1lb. second stage. It has approximately 1/4" of over-travel. I...

Re: Cure for Freezing on the Trigger

Thanks to everyone for your comments and suggestions. Zach I believe that you accurately identified the problem, I try to dress the shot up so that it's "perfect (centered with no movement) and thus freezing on the trigger. I also think setting up the trigger the way Ten Meter Peter suggested w...

Cure for Freezing on the Trigger

I am primarily a metallic silhouette shooter, but the fundamentals are the fundamentals (wow that was profound). Do any of you have a "cure" or drill that can help correct freezing on the trigger. I know that the first 6-8 seconds of a hold are for most the optimum time to get a shot off, ...

How To Establish Your Natural Point of Aim

I feel embarrassed asking this question, but as the saying goes "the only bad question is the ..." My primary game is metallic silhouette, both smallbore and high power, consequently the only position I shoot is offhand. My scores have plateaued in the high 20s and low 30s. I'm going back ...

Re: Cost and Disadvantages of a PCP Rifle

Zoran - Thanks for the information. I returned the 300S I recently purchased due to a mechanical problem. Shooting it (cocking it) for a few days got me thinking about a PCP gun. Car-pooling sounds like a great idea, when I get whatever I get. Thanks again and see you a week from Sunday. Tom

Cost and Disadvantages of a PCP Rifle

I'm considering a PCP rifle for smallbore metallic silhouette practice and formal 10 meter competition (if I can find matches here in Phoenix). How much equipment, not including the rifle, is necessary, e.g., tank, etc. and a rough idea of the cost. I'm looking for a realistic, not low ball cost est...
