Re: Swiss Tanner project rifle ???

Funny for me to find this post.....I have a similar, but not entirely, conundrum. I have a very early 1980's Tanner with that clunky stock and the funky set trigger. I know that Tanner "rebuilds" their own rifles and has both new sights and triggers. That one is a single shot. On this part...

Re: Any reason Tanner rifles are not more popular?

Yes, what is it now, 5 time National Long Range Champion in the U.S., winner of the Queen’s Prize Downunder in 2011? So many more trophies than I can recall in such a young man. John smiths what he shoots so he and his Company have plenty of experience. Check him out at www.whiddengunworks.com I fo...

Re: Any reason Tanner rifles are not more popular?

Who is "we" and what is your experience? What are the rifle calibers, brand of barrel and the prefered shooting discipline? Are the aluminum blocks just a support or integral for the threading?

That also was one of my concerns!

Re: Any reason Tanner rifles are not more popular?

Just in the topic area; I want to know how the barrels of the Bleiker, and Grunig & Elmiger are attached in the action. Does it take any special gunsmith skills? Reason I am asking is that I bought two Bleikers, two Tanners, and one Grunig & Elmiger 300M rifles in 7.5 Swiss. I am considering...

I just bought a 300m target rifle. I wish I had spotted these rifles sooner.

Re: Any reason Tanner rifles are not more popular?

I just bought one, and though not cheap, it is far less than the cost charged in Europe. As the tiny bit of information I have is that they were not imported to dealers in the States. However, used examples find their way here through various importers.

If you would like to send the Mk. V to me, I would appreciate it very much. I have been on the hunt for another Mk. V for some time, and nothing has shown up. Nice find and I suppose the hunt was a long one.

Re: Where can I get lenses for Junker shooting glasses?

Oh, and by the way.....have another shooter measure from your shooting glasses to your front sight. That way the 'doc' can make certain there is a clear focus on the front sight. In addition to that there is a change in the optical center when the shooter is on the rifle. One way or another the doct...

Re: Where can I get lenses for Junker shooting glasses?

There are a few that understand, and a few more that can learn. The lenses are ground for the frames and any COMPETENT optometrist/ophthalmologist can measure and have them ground to fit. There are some within a community of shooters that the shooters go to and that the lens fitting is almost second...

I had it water jet cut and then TIG Welded it. The factory piece is bent close to 90 deg, where mine is about 45 deg, but other than that they are the same. This one uses the factory T-Nuts to mount the secondary wood piece (which she may or may not need). Are you shooting your new small bore down ...

Great job! You did the 'weld' how? It will work no matter and the palm rest seems acceptable. A sense of satisfaction for doing it yourself. BT

I contacted them, and they would sell to me direct, but it was over $225 and they can only do wire transfers. Since I only need the one part, I just decided to make it. Should be finished up Monday, for less than 1/2 the cost of getting the one from Germany. I saw one on US eBay a couple of days ag...

There is a bit more to it than that. you are younger than many that shoot so, ait all old eyes. The youth can focus differing distances faster, but that is not everything. Assuming you are shooting 'irons' then one of the best changes is aperture sights and changing to larger front apertures. Anothe...
