Extremely difficult to remove firing pin in Marvel U1. I have 3 and have replaced firing pins or disassembled for cleaning. It takes a Torx driver to remove breech block from slide - not too difficult but the pin that holds the firing pin in must be pressed in at the factory with a 100 ton press. I ...

I use the orange plastic saf t trainers. http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/general-gunsmith-tools/cartridge-dummies/saf-t-trainers-prod9923.aspx I also tried the drywall inserts in my Marvel U1 and found they didn't hold up. With the saf t trainers I get 4 or 5 shots then turn them - ...

I've set up several Marvel U1's. And provided info for a couple lockbacks that shoot in our local bullseye matches. The magazines from Advantage Arms cured feeding problems in 3 lockbacks and two of the older Marvels. They're 100% reliable unless you get a dud round. The most reliable ammo is CCI SV...

I've read in gunsmithing books it's preferable to swage out the chamber rather then to file away the metal. And the tool to do this is: http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/handgun-tools/chamber-tools/22-chamber-ironing-tool-prod8869.aspx I've heard more good things about Smith and Wesso...

A 7 inch barrel 41 was the first gun I shot in bullseye. I only shot CCI SV and I didn't notice any consistancy in wide shots - just the ones I assumed I pulled occasionaly. I never saw keyholes even at 50 yds. I wonder if there's something about how the first round is feeding out of the magazine. C...

I thought you could do what you describe: Here's the text from the NRA rules: compete.nra.org/documents/pdf/.../RuleBooks/Pistol/pistol-book.pdf 9.1 Changing Pistols - Competitors are to use the same pistol during single stage matches, i.e., Slow Fire, Timed Fire, Rapid Fire and NMC (a single match)...

dlb, I bought a Marvel Precision Unit 1 about 7 years ago, I shot it for 4 years, over 10K rounds when the extractor broke through the barrel cutout. Marvel Precision replaced the entire unit except the scopemount with the new wider extractor unit for Free. I've shot the replaced unit for now for 2 ...

ghillieman, sounds like you got a set-up that works for you. The size of the radius/bevel on the firing pin stop (FPS) also has an effect on the felt recoil. I've fitted an EGW oversize FPS with very small radius on my ball gun and a Colt I use for full power loads. I could detect a difference but i...

A buffer can help with the felt shock of recoil in a target gun. You just need to monitor it so it doesn't shred or degrade which can bind up the gun. I got a load from NSK that is only a little more felt recoil than a wadcutter load. Zero 230g or Sierra 230g FMJ over 4.2g VV N310. 2 inch, 5 shot gr...

I've had good results with my 52-2 using 3.1g 231, 2.8g Bullseye or 2.8g VV N310. Some say the amount and type of crimp is important to accuracy in the 52. I use a taper crimp but other's that know more than I do say a slight roll crimp is superior. Then there's bullets, so many choices. I shoot cas...

Gulliver, I've been shooting a Rock River wadgun just like yours in bullseye matches for 3 years. Mine has been excellent. The trigger is a crisp 3 1/2lbs. Rock River told me the factory recoil spring is 13lbs, I changed mine to a 10 lb. Wolff variable to get reliability shooting light wadcutters. I...

Oil for single stroke pneumatic air pistol?
I have a Weihrauch 75 single stroke pneumatic air pistol - no spring - that I use for bullseye practice.
I need to find a oil for the air chamber - Weihrauch says use a hydraulic oil.
I just need a few drops a year and don't want to buy a quart or gallon - what are my options?
Thanks, Art

Check-mate magazines
I've had good luck with Check-mate magazines. They make three kinds of feed lips - USGI or tapered, hybrid and wadcutter. They make removeable bases or welded bases, 7 or 8 round. The wadcutter lip mags work in my 3 wadguns, I use the hybrids in my ball gun. The hybrid mags are reported to cure maga...
