Re: Dry fire

I like to dry fire against a blank wall. I am trying to get a perfect release without disturbing the sight picture AND a perfect follow through. When you are actually shooting you will be wobbling in the tightest area you can while releasing the shot. You do NOT!!! want to "ambush" the bu...

You could also get your eyes tested by an optician asking them to check your eyes for a focus point at the foresight distance

Re: Difference between 50 yd and 100 yd impact points

Simple answer is - the impact should be approximately 3.33" higher than the center of the bull at 50y. using rough maths from my kiddywink years - on a 6click/minute sights its 40 clicks from 50s to 100s. which is 6.67minutes of angle. at 50's it is 0.5" per minute of angle. 6.67min x 0.5&...

Re: Dry fire

Do you dry fire on a blank wall? Or a wall with a line/ single dot? Depends on the purpose of the dry firing! if its to focus on inner position/hold/balance/trigger etc then no marks are needed - if its to focus on natural alignment/sight alignment (with the target)/approach then yes you'll need an...

Re: Air gun barrel cleaning

Ok thank you. I see some coarse felts. Are these truly rough, would they damage the barrel? You would put bore paste on the felts for heavily fouled barrels, or more frequently? There are two types of felts from VFG for use on a rod- the plain ones and then the green ones - the green have small bit...

Re: Anschutz 9003 Accuracy Problem

if its brand new - did you clean it first? as this could effect accuracy as could lead in the barrel Other than that it could be that the barrel has worn in a little (in a good way) and rubbed off all the cutting marks now how have you stored the pellets? have they oxidised? Give it a good clean, to...

Re: gun parts identification needed

Silver thing at the bottom looks like a pin that holds the trigger in place on an anschutz

The two parts between the springs and the bolts could be extractors but i'm not 100% on that

start with the ISSF rules, the rules have good details on what the range standards should be (as well as distances/fp details etc)

Re: Air gun barrel cleaning

use a pull through after every session, mainly to remove the lead residue as you don't want that oxidising in your barrel.

For a more thorough cleaning i've always used VFG products (blue bore paste, teflon grease, felts and an airgun rod) - probably after every tin or two

If you’re getting creep it might be worth checking that there’s no oil/grease on the sear hindering its performance

having worn Vans in the past (amazing shoes) i can't see why they wouldn't pass the stiffness test - if they did fail it wouldn't take too much to break them in imho

Re: Shooting with cataracts - an update, plus Variolens

Might be worth noting/adding that hydration can play a huge role in vision for shooting, afterall the eye is full of fluid (albeit gooey stuff), are you finding that your vision is affected by hydration more or less after your cataract surgery?
