I guess the part touching the trigger may be either a blade or round and rubber-covered. The rules allow both I think. On my SSP, I have a groove in the middle of the trigger shoe, so the weight fits always in the same point. Well, I have to get some more sturdy wire to make the weight. The coat han...

That's a good point. However, I've just looked for the price and it is huuuge. Why the hell? USD 150 for a piece of metal? The Lyman gauge costs less than half of it. I'll probably have to create some DIY weight. Any suggestions or instructions how to do it best? I've already created one made of a c...

Thank you all. Let's modify the question. What do you find more suitable for a sports shooter? Such a tool that tells you (more or less) the actual weight of the trigger, so you can modify and know how much you modified or where you want to return, or a classic 1000g weight that give you only yes/no...

Lyman electronic trigger gauge
Anyone uses this tool to check the trigger weight of your pistol? Does it work fine?
What exact setting do you use for the 1000g limit? Is it just slightly above or something like 1100?
Thanks for replies.

Coker: Thanks a lot for the explanation. You're right, it's crazy and really complicated. And particularly if this includes airguns too. Just fyi, here in the Czech rep, you don' even need a range for shooting an airgun. You can shoot it anywhere with the only condition that you don't endanger anyon...

Hi, I can't stop wondering about what you are discussing here. I am from the Czech Republic, so I am not familiar with US gun laws. Do I understand that it is somehow limited or forbidden to transport a gun in New York city? Here in Prague, I just take my gun or two along with the shooting licence (...

Thank you all. I am thinking of getting CED8000 timer that has the possibility to set the beeps to the desired timing, has the headphone output and also can record the shooting times, so I can see if I am shooting at the optimal timepoint. However, I may start with the MP3s before I get the timer. T...

Well, the extractor just pulls the shell. If it does manually, I don't see a reason why it shouldn't after firing. And as grad said, the shell is caught between the slide and the frame, it doesn't stay in the chamber. However, there can really be some problem with the firing pin spring and rod. It n...

Well, not sure if I understood well but I suppose that this is not the problem. Setting of the trigger (as far as I know) does not affect what the gun does after it fires. Once the striker is released and the shot is fired the trigger setting has no influence on what happens. The striker can't be th...

Well, I do dry fire with a plastic dry-firing plug, so I can't really say if this can happen on an SSP, however, I suppose that if this is an almost new gun, a deformed chamber is probably not the problem we are looking for. Gfrad also said that the cartridge goes smoothly into the chamber. I have o...

OK, you can try one thing. Remove the blue O-ring from the dampening rod. You'll get a little more recoil but if it helps the jamming, you'll have the cause. However, I had that rod as well and it worked fine. I then exchanged it for the newer one as this one was a bit bended (I bought a second-hand...

Hmm, this is strange. Just to be sure about the magazine loading, I've made photos of the correct way. Just check that the magazine looks exactly like this (front-back-front-back cartridge position with the first round bullet aiming upward). And one (maybe stupid) note. Do you have the correct setti...

It is redesigned completely. No groove for the O ring. When I opened the package, I looked at it and wondered what they sent me because it didn't look like any of the two rods in my SSP. In one of the SSP leaflets, there was a guide how to set the trigger to the original factory setting. I must say ...

Gun-lifting technique - please help.
Hi, I'd like your opinion on the gun-lifting technique in the slow parts of sport or standard pistol. Do you lift the gun above the target and than go slowly down to the desired position or do you just lift the gun where it should be pointing. And if above - how much and why. Why am I asking? I used...

Hi, I shoot Lapua Standard plus from SSP without any problems. Several things come in my mind: 1. Do you have the magazine loaded correctly (double stack)? 2. Do you have the recoil-dampening system clean? This is the rod with the blue O-ring on it (old model) or just a metal rod (new model). Also t...

I bought a second-hand SSP and the damping rod with the O ring was a bit damaged. I ordered a spare part and I got the new design without the O ring. Both worked well for me and I didn't have problems with the original either but this seems to be really problem-free. I use the smaller orifice as it ...
