Blackening sights

When I get into my position and line up the sights on my Toz, the front sight appears to be grey, not black. Over my long years of shooting I've heard of guys blackening their sights, but never actually seen it. What does that really mean? How do you do it?

Thanks,

All set! Turns out it wasn't the palm shelve bolt or nut, but the lower right side grip panel screw that was interfering with the cocking lever. Swap the two panel screws, they are of unequal length, problem solved. That and I figured the trick to putting the nut in the slot between the frame and co...

Screw and nut for palm shelf. Reviving thread since I'm not done fitting the grip just yet. Getting back to trying to shoot the Toz this week. So I found this nut and bolt, but where does the nut go? Between the grip panel and frame? Or under the slot cut in the frame? If it's the former, it can't ...

Could be the chamber is a little short. When I drop the Federal round in the barrel it is just a barely a fingernail's distance below the hood. That's about the right headpace if I understand that correctly: http://www.shootersforum.com/attachments/handloading-procedures-practices/7260d1213756288-4...

Failure to go into battery

Just got my reworked (barrel, bushing, slide tightening) wad gun back from the 'smith. Yeah! Having problems with it not going into battery. Boo! Seems like the rounds jam going into the chamber. Happened about 15 times in my first 75 rounds of factory Federal 185gr GM45B (not set up for reloading y...

Thanks! Awesome info -- in fact I recall seeing a nut like that in a small baggy of "extra parts" that came in the Toz's wooden case.

Fitting a used grip on a Toz 35

Hi, Just picked up a used Toz with very nice Morini grips! The dealer was kind enough to throw in a well used stock Toz grip for me to practice fitting my hand to before violating the Morini grips. However, I can't get the darn things on! Is it normal to have to fiddle with the inletting of used Toz...

What about scoping them?

Hi,

If the question over which conversion was better involved mounting and shooting with a red dot, would the answer still be "they're all just as good"? I'm hearing the bullseye enthusiasm of Nelson.

thanks,

My team mates and I flew in and out of Denver with no problems. Denver is one of the airports where once your weapon is checked by the airline agent, they will have someone walk you to a TSA screener who will xray the bag; so give yourself extra time. They don't do that at Boston or Ft Lauderdale.

Google "throwers 10" for a description of some excellent shoulder exercises. We don't need big muscles, but you need strong ones and don't want any imbalances.

Just wanted to say I have my Steyr's grip angled as much as possible as described and never had a problem fitting in the box at Colorado Springs or Fort Benning.

Anyone using Matchdot II elevation turret?

Hi, Might finally be getting into centerfire bullseye, just picked up a Colt 70 series with some old crap dot. I have a MatchDot on my Pardini SP. For this 45, is it worth getting the MatchDot II with the elevation turret? Is anyone finding it useful for when moving from 50 to 25 yard line? Its not ...

In case it helps someone else in the future: I just had to back out screw 22 1/8 of a turn. I'd take some. 1k or so. You may want to talk to them about scaling down the paper too, if you do area hold on a reduced bull but not reduced card stock when you shoot for real at 10m you'll be surprised to see the bottom edge of the paper in between your front post and rear sight.

Problem with Walther GSP 2-stage trigger unit

Hi, Prior to the first trip to the range with my new to me early 80s GSP I stripped the pistol down for clean and lube following instructions out of the manual. One strangeness when reassembling was that the top end didn't want to go backwards that last "7mm" on the receiver -- the dovetai...

I think its just a matter of paper work. -= chuck Spoke to the Walther lady at nationals in Fort Benning, she said they recently hired someone who's job it will be to do this kind of paper work. So many states are calling everything with a magazine in front of the trigger an assault weapon (e.g. CT...

PPP standing position support at wrist?

Hi, I'm new at coaching some kids shooting in PPP. Last night one of the girls put the hanging rod at her wrist and really liked it more than letting the cylinder rest on it. But some of the other folks there thought that was illegal. Looking at the rules, I find: 5.1.2 Standing Supported ..." ...

Rapid Fire target acquisition

Hi, Just taking up Rapid Fire. From reading articles online, it seems center hold is most recommended so I'm trying that. I'm having a lot of trouble with figuring out when I'm holding on the vertical center without letting my eyes wonder to the target searching for the white lines! I know I shouldn...
