4-H Nationals

The smallbore sils are on the 100 yd range. The AR sils are listed on the Air Rifle sils range. Not sure where that will be. If I remember they hold the AR sils outdoors down by the 100/50 yd ranges for their state games. I'll check with Lue @ CMP and see what she has to say about the sanctioning.

4-H Nationals

Joel The sporter 3-p match "should" be a sanctioned match. It will be shot on the Orion targets. Texas 4-H is real shorthanded this year. CMP has designated Neil Shipley and me as chief range officers for the match. Hopefully to avoid last years results. We are currently trying to get the ...

USA-50 Scoring Gauges

Jason You can score the USA-50 using either gauge (to a point). The outer gauge will not be usable outside the 4 ring. The inner gauge will be required for these rings.Otherwise, either gauge is approved for scoring. USAS has an addendum to their rules addressing the scoring of this target. NRA publ...

NRA Rifle (Smallbore) Rule Changes

I just spoke with H.Q. Moody, Rifle Mgr. at NRA about the rule changes for smallbore specifically. There will be a reprint of the rules coming out shortly with numerous changes and cleaning up of areas of confusion. The specific change for not scoring center shots (x's) on the USA-50 target was to p...

New NRA Rules

I did a quick scan of the rules and most were the addition of electronic scoring/challenge/protest procedures. One, of note, was the smallbore rule concerning the USA-50 target where "centershots will not be scored". The USAS rules for scoring are included in the "International" ...

USAS has the dimensions for the USA 50 in the rules section of their download site. The black aiming part of the bull is only several hundredths of an inch smaller than the A36. The rings are thicker. The real question comes in with the "10" dot being approx. three times larger. This requi...

While you are waiting to get into a coaching class, CMP has a real good basic manual-CMP Rifle Instruction Guide- for $4.95 on their website. I know they are having extensive backlogs right now, but it's an option. I have been giving them out to our coaches and it gives them a chance to get an idea ...

NEW ANTI-GUN BILL FILED

I received information today that a Mr. Rush in the US House of Representatives filed a bill on Jan. 6, 2009 entitled HR45-Blair Holt Firearms Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009. The actual verbage in the bill requires all owners of handguns or semi-automatic weapons with a magazine to apply t...
