Re: Navy Rifle
Not sure about the future, but I can assure you I am look at Navy's shooters and their range (as we speak) and they ALL are working just fine.

enlarging pool
I too have posted - and heard little. One of three possibilities: 1. This is a very small forum, and thoughts somehow need to get relayed via another medium. Direct letters? Another site? I have no clue. 2. People of authority read this, but are limited because they cannot take an official position ...

Regarding new Pistol Coach...
... I'm sure he will do a fine job for USA Shooting. But the issue, to me, is much larger. Unless said national coach has a plan to work directly with teams in the USA, i.e., the clubs that feed him talent, then it's all mute. Not to sound crass, but by the time shooters get to work with USAS nation...

Idea for new "JO Development Team"
All, I hope you all don't think I'm hogging bandwidth here, but I have an idea that I would like to run past you. If it seems worthy, I will present it formally to USA Shooting and/or the NRA, since they work in concert in many ways. We all know about the levels of "national team" membersh...

Interesting...
....that so many are talking about USAS joining up with the NRA, i.e., going back to the old days... because that's where "the money was/is". I am not an NRA employee, but it is my guess is that the NRA does not have lots of funding for ISSF-style shooting programs. When Gary Anderson was ...

Lots of Good Ideas... BUT
All, I certainly appreciate all of the comments, suggestions, etc. regarding my question. Everyone has good ideas, none of them wrong ("There is more than one way to skin a cat" comes to mind). To all who showed interest, THANKS! You are obviously the ones out there making a difference. Ho...

After the Olympics... Now What?
First, congratulations to all of the shooters who competed and did their best in Athens. They are all champions in their own right. Here in the U.S., it is becoming more and more apparent that we are lagging behind the "powerhouse" shooting nations- China comes to mind. There was a story o...

Excessive shots???
One article I read stated that Mike fired too many shots in Kneeling, and was charged a 2-point penalty. Can anyone confirm? If this did happen, can anyone explain how, when the electronic systems are supposed to keep track of the (40) shots, in blocks? At least the Ascor systems used to do this. At...

10m Rifle Final, In Comparison
For those on the east coast who were awake at 0400 on Saturday to see the Women's 10m Air final, it was pretty well done. I did not see the pistol events on TV, so I cannot compare. Notwithstanding the fact that NBC had a few errors (I believe one commentator announced the US rifle coach as David Ja...

Re: U.S. National Championships (NRA)
My understanding is that in 3-P Air, a new U.S. record was set- I think it was a pair of 594's. Ashley Jackson ??? In the team events, I believe it was (1) Pennsylvania (2) Ohio and (3) Virginia. I was not there this year, but I understand the turnout was excellent- around 300 shooters, including ai...

Sounds great!
I am definitely interested... not because we don't already have a few great publications by our NGBs, but we need as much media and support as possible for the little game we play.

"Record TV Coverage Planned for Athens" see insid
This is from an article in The Washington Post, dated 6/10, by Amalie Benjamin (TWP) ........................ "NBC yesterday unveiled an exhaustive programming schedule that will ensure the Athens Olympics receive more air time than the past five Summer Games combined, although much of that cov...

re: TV dates
Not to sound sarcastic, but good luck finding any coverage in the U.S. Shooting simply doesn't get the paid sponsors/TV commercials. You're probably better off looking at the ISSF web page for periodic updates on results. Better yet, take them up to Camp Perry where they can see hundreds of shooters...

Another perspective
Pants or no pants, that has been the question. What concerns me is the method by which this potential change will be made. First comes an unsubstantiated announcement, in various publications, making one believe that rule changes have already been passed. That way, when and if the change actually ha...

Clothing and ISSF
As many of you have seen, there is a proposal on the table with the ISSF to change the clothing/equipment for Rifle. As coaches, I would be interested in getting your opinions about this issue. That said, I really DO NOT want to jump to conclusions at this point, since no ISSF vote has taken place, ...
