Found it

robf: I rest because my left hand starts to get numb (which also affects the mental game a little). I was thinking in the same ways as you, RobStubbs and mangusta - perhaps it is more of a mental issue: when I continue the match - I'm not really "there" at the first shot. So - last night a...

It moves around, but it´s usually in the upper half of the target, that makes sense if the barrel has cooled down.
So... Do you shade that first shot or...??

Havn't thought of that before... Interesting idea. But still, if you rest for one minute with the bolt closed... Can the barrel really cool down that much?

9 after rest in prone

A prone dilemma... Let´s say you shoot a numer of "good" shots (say a tight 99 or 100p). Then you rest, just putting down the buttplate from the shoulder. When you continue, you check the zero point etc, everything feels perfect and you feel good to go. And you get a flyer (sub 9,5 or so) ...

I had the same problem, but drifting to the left (I´m right handed.) I found out it all had to do with the position of my elbows. Everytime I rested, they moved a little without my notice. Along the match, my left elbow got closer to the rifle. At the same time I corrected this by moving my right cl...

Hi Sam I also shoot a 2013 and had same experience. The Eley rim is not as thick as other brands. And if yor firing pin is striking just a little short, that´s when you get misfires. The easy solution for med was to move the trigger house back max. That makes the firing pin strike a little harder (b...

I've batch tested twice at the Lapua factory in Shönebeck and the best results I got was with Midas+, second best with Center-X. Not great, but good (13,2 mm / 13,5 mm over 4x10-shot groups). A friend of mine found a batch of X-act that had 11,2 mm avg, and that is good (but expensive :-) I guess La...

Is it perhaps as simple as this:

A low prone position = low sling position
A high prone position = high sling position

?

Sling position - high or low?

In prone, I have always had my sling in a high position, over the bicep. Watching the ISSF prone finals etc on Youtube, I notice that many shooters have a low sling position, under the bicep. I know both ways are "accepted", but is there any advantage placing it low, rather than high? Whic...

Recoil

Gerald, I like it :) I'll soon have a similar stock made for me, aluminium (milled) with straight profile of the neck behind the pistol grip. Also for a 2013 (and also soon with a Shilen 4G ratchet, replacing my factory barrel). I shoot prone only, so I was thinking this design would be good for the...

Mine is for prone, and very home made (ugly)... But it works for me :)
(Have no pic right now, sorry.)
I really don't know if there's any rules regarding the buttplate in air rifle. Anyone?

Don't let the buttplate construction be a limit.
(My buttplate is home made out of two different buttplates.)
Perhaps you need to modify it a little to suit you.
Have you tried to add some spacers at the upper part of the buttplate?

Rob You are so right, I should have figured that out before I even started the match. The NPA was low, yes, so I simply pushed the left arm forward just a little bit (before my 591), and tightened the sling a little, and that was enough to get the NPA pretty close to the centre. Still, it was not a ...

OK, perhaps I raised the buttplate to much when I was all over the target? Eric - how much do do you have to raise/lower the buttplate at 'extreme' ranges? This was my scenario: Practise at my home range: Day 1: 599/42*. Day 2: 596/37* The competition day 3: 591/31*. No changes made. The competition...

Prone Q

Hi I shoot prone only. At my home range, I reach pretty good results, scoring 595+. Now, the problem is that my Sius target on that range is a bit lower than other ranges. So when I compete at other places, I often find that my sights and aim are lower than the target, and I can'n really find a natu...

Group size - what is good?

Hi all OK, testing SB ammo... I've been doing this for some years now at the factories in Europe. I'v been to both Lapua, RWS and have had my action at Eley. The best stuff I've found, has an average of 13,0 mm (over3 or 4 10 shot groups). And a bunch of lots about 14-15 mm in avg. Then, I know some...

What is right or wrong?

Oscaro, I hope you will find an advice at this forum that will help you. I used to have pain in my wrist, which simply came from an unnatural angle of the wrist (to much force by a tight sling). My own solution was to; - move the handstop forward 1 inch (or so) - loosening the sling a little. Still,...
