Re: Iron Sights Again....?

I am using the same glasses and same guns/sights indoors and out. Yes, there is far, far more ambient light outside than there ever could be on ANY indoor range, regardless of how well set-up it is! Am puzzled as to why I am unable to use same guns/sights/glasses indoors and out. Is there some othe...

See an Optometrist

IMHO, you most likely have astigmatism that needs correction.

In the Bay Area, Dr Norman Wong is the man to see.

Revolver choices

One is a Ruger Security Six with a 6" barrel, the other is a S&W 686 with the 4" barrel. Do people think one of these will be better than the other for DR? -Chris Try them both and see which is best. Accuracy shooting .38 Special ammunition is a .357 S&W Magnum revolver is general...

Match Tactics

After driving 45 miles to a match and discovering I had left my ammunition in the driveway in front of my house, I (a) prepared a check list of what to put in the car, checking things off AFTER they were in the car, and (b)packed the car the night prior, and (c) reviewed the check list before depart...

Re: Match Tactics

7 holes in the ten ring, 2 in the nine ring. I'm positive I had ten good shots. Neither target adjacent to mine has missing shots or extra holes. I do not want to just give up the 9 or 10 points. What would you do? I would refer to Rule 16.1 Challenges - "When a competitor feels that a shot fi...

.22 Conversions

Gents, I am looking at my first conversion purchase and do not have unlimited funds. I have been looking at the Nighthawk site and see $560 for mag and slide/barrel, I think this is a Marvel licensed unit. I saw a post about Nelson at mid $400 and I see on ebay Advantage Arms kit, GSG, and Kimber &...

Vertical Stringing

IIRC, vertical stringing is a sign of an improperly fitted bushing. Not necessarily loose, but not fitted to the barrel.

I prefer Kart barrels.

?NRA?

Since the original post referred to the NRA, I referred to the NRA Rule!

Re: New Math

I would have thought it would be 505/6=84.17 (unless things are done differently in the US) That's a better question than I had! Four bull targets; three shots per bull; five targets equaling 60 shots. It looks like 84.17, so it depends on who sanctioned the match for what the class will be, but ye...

Pistol Maintenance

Detail stripping is rarely needed for any firearm; when I was in military Service, only an armorer was permitted to detail strip most firearms. It is pretty unusual to need dis assembly beyond what is normally termed "field stripping." In general, the manual gives as much information as th...

Eley Ammunition

Finally, I have read - how true it may be I cannot say - that Eley send their best batches of Tenex to America and the rest of the world, simply because the UK market is small in comparison. When Bert Brookes ran the Customer Range at Eley he told me that the USA was a fairly small market. The US i...

.32 ACP vs .32 S&W Long

The slow twist of the .32 S&W Long makes for marginal 50 yard performance. Lots of folks have seen significant improvement with a 10 or 12 in twist barrel. The .faster muzzle velocity of the .32 ACP in conjunction with the faster twist barrel yields a more stable bullet that shoots better at 50 ...
