Re: Walther GSP Trouble Shooting?

Gwhite: declaring so little knowledge about firearms and ammunition, you really should NOT endeavour to coach. Not beyond scouts level.

Re: Walther GSP Trouble Shooting?

I shall ask in a German target shooters' forum on your behalf. Although the GSP is not seen so frequently today, it is still much used on the lower echelons. One aside note though, preliminarily. As a coach, you will ensure that your shooters will use the best available ammo for the National Champio...

Re: what .22 pistol would you choose?

Fairly universal opinion among top shooters, Joel. You are maybe more tolerant or forgiving than this crowd. Maybe you should check with them, and see _why_ the Walther SSP in so rare in competitions. Even Walther's marketing face (Munkhbajar Dorjsuren) changed to Pardini ASAP after her sponsoring c...

Re: what .22 pistol would you choose?

Will be used for standard pistol target. Many experienced shooters regard the FW93 and the Walther SSP as unsuitable for Standard Pistol specifically. Reason: significant muzzle jump, detrimental in the fast series. Pardini SP and Matchguns MG2 are the most comonly recommended ones. Internationally...

Re: Well, isn't that special!

In Canada, despite what you might be told, possession of firearms is prohibited . Under Canadian law, you may get a temporary (5-year) exemption from that prohibition if you can obtain a firearms licence. That is true. In quite the same sense true as it is forbidden to drive a motor vehicle on a pu...

Depends upon the country I guess. Here, they are either destroyed or given away for free, respetively a nominal fee of 20 to 50 Euros.

Re: Shooting removed from 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games

If I look at the list of the 52 Commonwealth members, I see that not all of them have shooting federations at all, leave alone such federations that would have enough clout to influence their general sports representative in the CGF.

Re: Shooting removed from 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games

As the media have reported publicly (nah, not the British press or BBC, but the well-informed media, namely insidethegames.biz), India, Jersey and some other Commonwealth members are set to enounce their discontent about the decision soon 2018 in Australia. Obviously, alliances and support are right...

Re: Shooting removed from 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games

Hello Ian. - Firstly, welcome on board. :-) - Secondly, thank you for augmenting my lacunous knowledge: I actually was aware (somehow, somewhere), of the existence of the Island Games, but apparently I did not parse the presumable consequence that foreign competitors in pistol disciplines would have...

Re: Shooting removed from 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games

Unfortunately the UK firearms laws preclude this as only officially sanctioned competitions can be held especially pistol. Import licences would be impossible to obtain. Well. Until today, only Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games did give reason to the Home Office (or in theory: to the Scottish Mi...

Re: Shooting removed from 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games

Shooting first recorded results are from 1966 for Free pistol, Centrefire, Rapidfire, 50m rifle and fullbore rifle. Except for 1970 it has been in every games since 1966. They should just go back to this original choice, open all three pistol disciplines for women, and drop all shotgun disciplines....

It isn't Grevemberg who will make any decision here. In fact, even his say in the matter will be little, Nonetheless, I have seen less worthy peititions. The main challenge is to get the real media interested in the issue. If that succeeds...

Mhmmm. Seems the Scots have understood the concept meanwhile.
Sassenachs however are still too (stupidly) self-destructive to grasp it. *Sigh* Serves 'em right?

Re: When did rapid fire target changed from "men" to circles

It _is_ about being politically correct and anally retentive. I will of course acknowledge everybody's right to refer to his or her weapons (armes, armas, Waffen, whatever) as "noble sophisticated implements of agonistic recreation", if s/he so pleases. I shall continue to call mine by the...

The oblong rectangular target with oval rings is still used in German hunting competition (and, I believe, also in CISM rapid fire? but please correct me).

Re: Pardini Conversion Units

If I may ask one small additional question: does the assembled Pardini HPO with the .32 ACP conversion unit (7,65mm Browning) still fit inside the ISSF measurement box? Would anybody know or maybe even have tested?

Thank you,
