Used Hämmerli International/208/215 and IZH-35 (= Walther KSP 200) are equally cheap and good, and almost indestructible. You can get either for about 150 Euros and often less. Here.

Re: Mongolian Pistol Shooting

I met up with the renowned Mongolian National Coach Undrabat and have started training at his club called "Champions". Fitting, as he has coached the 2008 Olympic Silver Medalist O. Gundegmaa and Bronze Medalist Munkhbayer Dorgsuren. Allow me to add - by all means - Munkzul Tsogbadrah to ...

We seem to agree on this point. We might even agree (dare I hope it? better not!) on the meaning and Olympic intent of host nation quota places, as granted by the IOC via the international federations in continuous practice. :-( PS, and not on this topic now: There also exist, as I recall, "per...

Now, after the whole fracas of the shooting selection decisions has been addressed by some journalist(s), none other than Sebastian Coe has found a befitting assessment. It was not meant to designate the shooting decisions, but it applies perfectly to their foul play: “I’ve always nudged selectors t...

1. Thank you for helping me with a more balanced relative assessment; I have duly noted your careful formulation. 2. His ISSF results (in the shooters' database) must be seen in context with his national results (as e.g. can be gleaned from the lists of the British Pistol Club - the other competitio...

Ah. Thank you for helping me with that. It was my impression that he is the best British pistol shooter presently.
(Of course he has attracted less media attention than the three ladies.)

The list of all Section 5 Authorities by "The Scottish Ministers" (that's how the issuing authority is called up there) is online (heavily anonymized though). Cut-off-date is 2010 or 2011. What I found interesting, is that there were absolutely no licences for the purpose of sport shooting...

A brief update: - STC is now under roof and already operational. An amazing achievement of civic spirit, altruism, and indefatigable idealism. A great example to emulate. - The centre strives now to incorporate air pistol shooting as well, and thereby shows its wide-sighted and non-factional approac...

As I recall, she had switched her (previously also Walther) air pistol before, and Walther hence did no longer approve of her representation of the SSP.

Thank you for the clarification. Well. At least there _are_ cartridge pistol disciplines being shot on main British (Scottish) soil again; which in and by itself is good. The more the merrier.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. So they now dropped 25 metres centrefire pistol (men) ?

The schedule for the 2014 Commonwealth Games (in Scotland) shows encouraging signs for the shooting disciplines, notably for pistol. I understand that section 5 exceptions will again be granted, resp. the existing ones prolonged. What is also interesting, is the discrepancy in the listing of the var...

As a reminder, here is the list of the "host nation quota places" there were allocated by the IOC as per usual (gracious) Olympic custom. You can see where BOA and British Shooting disregarded the sense and the spirit of the Olympic Charter, and bartered and shifted these places, or did no...

You know, when I read Alan Hubbard's first (above-linked) article http://www.insidethegames.biz/blogs/17294 about the two British rapidfire pistol shooters, I could sense that his criticism was basically right (notably because I myself had already felt so before, LOL). But at that time, I found some...

The decision was formally correct. It was also silly and self-destructive for our sport, to the extreme. One would never expect anything different from British Shooting. It is their style. Has ever been. Public criticism from outside the sport can now also be here: http://www.insidethegames.biz/blog...

Curiously: is this CISM rapidfire event only open to military (active & reserve) shooters, or can lowly civilians also compete?

Wondering about composition of UK Olympic Shooting Team?

I have read the news brief about the composition of the British shooting team (British Shooting have revamped their insupportable website now, by the way - decent job by Craig Davies !). I was a bit bewildered. The UK has gotten enough slots as the host country, so they did not really depend upon se...

Rather: a milestone of futility.
