Re: High Pressure welding bottles
For at least a decade the Calgary club has used dry nitrogen for airguns. Works just fine.

Re: Unique Des/69-U issues
John, most of us with uniques have found that the gun starts to spray rounds erratically when the rod touches the weight. For thirty plus years I've regularly checked to make sure there is a gap, and I have had it go erratic during matches - early years - and had to readjust between strings. Like Ja...

Re: Unique Des/69-U issues
I knew this double spring setup was common for the 32U but I didn't know it was used on the 69 U as well. I will have to set it up and see how it works. The extra buffering and a little extra push forward would speed up slide cycling as well. Thanks!

Re: Bulged barrel of my SIG Hämmerli P 240
Good luck on getting Ray to respond! I've had a request in with him for over two years, and a colleague who lives in Sydney likewise needs a barrel and can't get a response from him. Basically given up.

Re: Unique Des/69-U issues
Check that the sear engagement is adequate - that's the screw reached through the hole in the back of the grip. The other alternative would be that the take up is set too close. The system works best as a two stage though it can be set as single stage mine tends to get erratic in that mode.

Re: Need help with a Hammerli Olympia 22 short pistol!!
You may want to testfire it a bit before getting too exercised about the extractor. In the 1970s and 80s it was often the case that the extractor was the cause of jams, many guns worked just fine without one and even became more reliable. Of course this was in the cool dry mountain air so it may be ...

Re: Rapid Fire Pistol
Thanks for the clarification David. However, the way I described it was how we actually did it in Western Canada back in the early 1970s. We were just a little lax in being punctilious about the rule book before the commonwealth Games came along and we cleaned up our act.

Re: Rapid Fire Pistol
Since you will have neither a turning target system nor an electronic target set, you are back to the way it was in smaller clubs back in the early 1970s. However the timings are done as two - 8 second strings, two - 6 seconds, two - 4 seconds. In a formal match you need to score and parch after eac...

Re: I definitely need better grips, or a better pistol...
Unfortunately the market differences between Europe and Canada are Huge! If you look at the prices on the eGun site - say for a Hammerli 208 -you can take that and multiply by ten and you will be in close range for a Canadian example, IF you can find one. I recall only two being advertised in the pa...

Re: I definitely need better grips, or a better pistol...
Actually if you get one that has not been abused a DES will last nearly forever, well I bought mine in 1976 and with about 50K plus down the barrel it has neither broken nor worn out any part. Of the half dozen that came into the CRPC only one part broke - a mag catch. Like Jimmy Lee I plan to pass ...

Re: 2016 Darwin Award
Well maybe you can nominate it for the next award year at darwinawards.com but since a second individual was involved, I don't think it will pass the test. The awards are given only after a nomination and voting over a year. If it does not involve direct stupid action resulting in self death it woul...

Just another antique, eh? Don't recall one at the Canadian Nationals since sometime in the early 90's. But maybe my memory is getting faulty? Gettin old ya know!

Now, now, don't go maligning Uniques, eh? Besides it looks like the last one they put out. I think I'll just past mine and my FAS/Dimino 602 on to my grandkids. Nothin' finer to shoot with!

Re: Damping down .32 Walther recoil
You do know that the barrel shroud of the Walther Expert series has the same type of recoil damping as the Pardini. Ten years ago I turned down my ancient Walther barrels and installed the Expert shrouds. Worked well. A friend for years used a coiled up piece of rubber sheet as a buffer. Both things...

Re: Swaging 22 Chamber , how?
I bought one from Brownells a few years ago. Hardened piece on an L shaped rod. The swage has a small flat which is supposed to be aligned with the damage, the swage inserted full depth, the carefully rotated. The cylinder pushes the damage back into place and done. Since the edge is likely to be so...

Re: Freeze in the dark!
Reminds me of a bumper sticker that was common in Alberta during the National Energy Program set up by M.Trudeau ( senior) back in 1974.
"Let The Eastern Bastards Freeze In The Dark!"
A sentiment that sometimes returns.
