Re: rifle accuracy
I wonder if there is a rule-of-thumb for wearing out an Anschutz .22 barrel in a Model 54 action? Some Hammerli pistol shooters have their barrels relined after ~ 100k rounds and report an improvement in ransom rest groups. The Anschutz 1813 I shot years ago was not cleaned fastidiously, which seeme...

Re: Moving powder, primers in summer heat
First off, if you're that concerned then you should email or call the manufacturer. Nothing you are doing is illegal or unusual. Secondly, put the powder and primer containers in plastic bags so your sweat does not drip on them when moving (IMO).

Re: Pardini trigger adjust screws coming loose
Fingernail polish works as a thread locker for small screws. I generally keep clear around, but some like green, others red, or white. Colored fingernail polish provides a positive visual indicator that something was applied to the screw. Never had a problem removing a screw which had fingernail pol...

Re: Manurhin MR73
Having reloaded the 32 acp and 32 S&W long using Alliant Bullseye powder, the load of 2.1 gr BE under a .314 dia 98 gr DEWC should work fine. Bullseye powder is very forgiving in that there is no minimum load requirement - other than the concern about getting a projectile stuck in the bore. It's...

Re: Adjusting the FWB AW93 Trigger.
The manual is explicit, but not clear. I think it is the German->English translation. Maybe not. Either way, I have turned screws #25 and #24 without slackening #22 with no ill effects. Also, and this gets back into the translation, trigger slack weight (1st stage) and trigger point weight (2nd stag...

Re: Adjusting the FWB AW93 Trigger.
FWIW, if I were to do a more elaborate trigger adjustment, trying to get the desired trigger configuration using screws #20-25 would be done first. The manual says this in that "if the trigger slack and trigger point have been adjusted properly" before adjusting screw #26, but the sequence...

Re: Adjusting the FWB AW93 Trigger.
I've only adjusted the 1st stage weight on my AW93 (screw 25). That didn't require loosening of trigger stop screw (22) or any other adjustment. I set my 1st stage up for ~ 2.2 lb with the second stage (as it came from the factory) at ~ 0.6 lb. I use an older RCBS spring scale for measurements, so I...

Re: BAD AIR? Black film on PCP air cylinder (Gun locks up)
Silicone (oil and grease) has low lubricity between metals. That means a silicone oil or grease will not work well with metal threads. Elastomer seals generally benefit from silicone oils and greases. Some greases work well with both metals and elastomeric seals. Super-Lube is one. Molykote 33 low t...

Re: Thoughts on the new Walther LP500 models?
Umarex, which is the parent company of Walther, obviously believes in innovating their way into the marketplace. If Walther was a better run company, they likely would have more stable designs that were 'incrementally innovated'. But then, that business model didn't seem to work for Walther. Product...

Re: Benelli MP95E Pistol Grip.
My MP90S has Nill wood grips. That Nill grip can be rotated ~ 5-7 degrees but requires wedges or shims between the grip and frame. For more than a few degrees that grip may require some material removal around the trigger guard in order to access the trigger unit without partially removing the grip....

Re: How Do you handle / deal with a Sore Shoulder or Arm ?
The common treatment is rest, ice, compression, elevation (i.e. RICE). I found the freeze cold wrap helps along with NSAIDS (non steroid anti inflammatory drugs) such as ibuprofen when I have overdone my shoulder. But, I think the most import part is rest. Once recovered, doing some strength trainin...

Re: Benelli MP95E Pistol Grip.
Rather than start a new thread in Bullseye shooting, has anyone found a MP90/MP95 grip that duplicates the grip angle of the 1911 (i.e. 208/215/208s, etc.)? I expect Andrew could make one, but I'm curious if there is already a pattern? That sort of 1911 angle grip is available for the Pardini, and b...

I found if the metric spring is 3mm in diameter or less, the McMaster-Carr phosphor coated 1080 steel music wire can be found to match the metric size (considering tolerances). For larger diameter music wire, I use metric rod (usually O1 drill rod because it's readily available, relatively inexpensi...

Just to throw my $0.02 into the mix on: "how to stop it" Back when I was in high school (walking both ways through the snow uphill ... and was grateful for the opportunity), we didn't have an 'open access' high school. There were no fire alarms on the outside of the building. If someone wa...

Re: Benelli MP95 questions
I've disassembled the 6 round Benelli magazines by removing the rear pin on the base of the magazine. That's the pin furthest from the muzzle when the magazine is inserted. It's a roll pin, so a decent quality roll pin punch will work. Here is an image from Larry's for that magazine. Once the rear p...

Here is a link to Bullseye (i.e. precision pistol, etc) NRA shooting sports information on strength and stamina: http://www.bullseyepistol.com/stamina.htm Having all the endurance and stamina of an Olympic gold medal marathon runner won't make you a good shooter. But a good shooter's scores can suff...

Re: Buying Advice: Match or Plinking Pistol
It may be prudent to shoot some other pistols before making a decision. Plinking pistols won't have the design features of a dedicated match pistol. So, as others have noted, if you really want a target pistol then buying one initially may be best. As previously mentioned, the Hammerli Xesse Sport i...

Re: Steyr grip sizing
My experience is that Steyr grips run a bit small. My Morini medium grip fits OK (but is about maxed out) while the Steyr medium grip is not quite long enough for my little finger. The palm rest extends enough, but the cut-out for finger grooves is short. I live with it. I also have a pair of medium...

I vote this post be a "sticky" in the shooter lounge. It's hilarious! Got to love that dry British humor.
