rifle "saddle" for freehand stand?
Please excuse a question from the uneducated. I just came back from the Texas 4H state games. I noticed quite a few shooters "hanging" their rifles on their freehand stand during their match. I understand that freehand stands typically have a rest on top to steady a rifle while loading (an...

Avanti BB Gun
This is a fairly stupid question. I know Avanti's BB guns shoot fairly slow - but should they have trouble penetrating a corrugated cardboard target backer (my backer board is pretty old cardboard, so might be a tad tough)? I am not home, and my step son noticed everything is bouncing off his target...

My humble understanding (via instructor training) is that there may be a fundamental difference of opinion in the mission of 4H shooting sports. I know many coaches that appear to feel it is about competitive shooting, while I highly suspect that Dr. Howard and other coaches feel it is more about sa...

I sighted in 2 753's last weekend. With bulk pellets I could keep it in the 9 ring. I am sure that the only reason I was not getting constant stacked groups was user error and pellet deviation. They are plenty accurate. That said, my elbow and shoulder were slightly sore and swollen after the experi...

Our club is different, so apples/oranges. We have about 100 kids in the fall and spring programs - We split them over 2 days, over beginners and experienced, and over 2 disciplines (either rifle/pistol in spring or rifle/shotgun in fall). We do not teach with air rifles. Personally I think they are ...

In the long run, this rule might turn out to be advantageous. Paintball tanks are fairly standardized - and inexpensive. If this rule forces tanks to become standardized, then it could (in theory) lower the cost of of these guns. However, I really don't like the idea of needing to trash all the co2 ...

I have been watching the development of this rifle since last August (or so). I think it started out as field target shooters modifying a Discovery. They fitted it with a Challenger stock and slicked up the trigger and it preformed fairly well. They then gave it a custom trigger and barrel and were ...

My daughters 4-H shooting sports club uses word of mouth (and a couple newspaper adds). Keeping it fun and get enough kids involved and it grows on it's own. When 40+% of a kids class is in the program, keeping kids coming becomes a lot easier. Last 6 week session (small bore silhouette rifle/pistol...
