What does this mean ? Atoms fused to the grip , is this possible? How ?

I recently saw an internet sale for a mark 11 , new in box, manual , all accessories, never fired. He bought it in 1985 and put it in his safe. He's asking $ 1000. I also have seen another little used mark 11 pistol only for $650. Hope this helps
