Re: Pistol Cleaning

David, I believe in cleaning and use "Match Winner Bore Cleaner" because I have it left over from my rifle days. I also used the Break Free that came with my Hammerli 162. When I was at a match, I was told that Break Free attacks the carbon fibre in the pistol. I called Wade Anderson and h...

Thanks for reply. What grip are you useing on TOZ right now and which one are you planning on getting? TOZ was on my short list till I red somewhere that it reguires longer fingers.i My TOZ has a stock, broken grip. It is way too small for me, however, with it broken and the shelf removed, I can ge...

I have a wide hand, but short fingers. I need a 95 mm grip and I had to cut the grip away near the trigger so my finger wouldn't touch there on my Hammerli 160. I am going to order a grip for the TOZ that I bought earlier this year. I see no problem with that pistol and my short fingers.

Steve,
How much of a "sag" is considered enough? If I would pull up to the bottom of the black in Free and then drop to a sub 6 area of aim, is that enough or do I need to go higher?
Thanks!

I hope someone doesn't discover that a bra increases stability. I've seen male marathon runners wearing the sports bras and would really hate to see that in shooting.

Moving off the original post, range officials often have the opportunity of standing back and watching 'things', including the (apparent) flight of the projectile on occasions. In the right light conditions the corkscrewing of some projectiles (if that is what we are seeing) can be interesting.Spen...

Great information, Bryan! I never shot Running Boar, however, it sure was interesting reading and I like your "evolution" coinage.

David, it is necessary to set up a spotting scope to at least check your zero. I've come from an outdoor prone background where individual shot knowledge is imperative due to weather conditions. I shot an air pistol match where I didn't look through the scope until after the string of fire was done....

OK, I'm trialling a FAS602 this weekend. Anyway - enough of the sales pitch - anyone want to try to convince me not to buy it? I must also say that there is a good comradery amongst pistol shooters (in general). I've had all sorts of offers from people lining up trials of their pistols at the ACT C...

My experience is 10,000 rounds is short. I put at least 15,000 rounds through a used Winchester 52 and it was still shooting inside Xs at 100 yards when I was stupid enough to waste dough and replace the barrel. I forget if it was a barrel maker or a gunsmith, however, I was told more .22 rimfire ba...

. . . Physical training doesn't really help mental toughness, does it? Rob and Ed, thanks for the recommendations, that one's definitely going into my bookmark list. Yes it does, Fred. Don't take this wrong, but laziness comes from lack of mental toughness. One must make the decision to get off the...

Hi Fred, I don't know why you only have once a week access to an AP. If this is not your AP I suggest you get your own. If you are cash poor, it would be wise to do something to raise dough to purchase one. You will never reach your full potential handling a pistol once a week. You may get discourag...

Hi Jack, Welcome to the free pistol world! I have a 50m range in my back yard. I use practice ammo in my back yard and Eley pistol match at 50 yd. tournaments. There is very little difference in where the holes in the paper end up. I've gone as much as 3-4 clicks and that's it. 50 ft. and 50 yard im...

Yes - we drifted off topic - sorry Spencer. I'm not sorry at all. I have an air pistol range in my basement. When I open the basement door into the garage I have 50 ft. for my free pistol. I was thinking of installing an exhaust fan near the bullet trap to "get the lead out." Now, from th...
