Hello: Can't provide an answer but you might try posting your question on the www.smith-wessonforum.com site. I don't think there are a lot of Bullseye competitors but there are many dedicated shooters so I think the chances someone could provide some assistance are good. I would highly doubt there ...

Thank you for your suggestion.

The more I think about it the less appealing the use of the fiber optic becomes.

I believe one of the great attractions of DR is the "back to basics" requirements. Hundreds of shooters have followed those requirements and I should do no less.

GOVTMODEL: Ruger now has a SP101 that comes with the fiber optic front sight as standard equipment; my understanding would be that would be allowed since it is not an "add on"(??). On the other hand I would want to stay within the spirit and not just the letter of the rule so perhaps I sho...

Fiber Optic sight on DR gun?

I'd like to get involved with the Distinguished Revolver program.

I admit to having some problems seeing the front sight on my revolvers. Was wondering if anyone uses a fiber optic sight for these events and did they find it an improvement?

Thank you.

Jim:

Could you post a link to the NRA site that covers the handgun program?

I have seen it in the past but now I cannot locate it with a search. Possibly I'm using the wrong parameters??

Thank you.

Any advantage to "slab sided" barrel?

Good day:

Am considering a Ruger .22 (probably from their 22/45 series).

They offer models with the traditional round barrel and also a slab sided version.

Is there some advantage of the slab side versus the round (or vice versa)?

Thank you.

Per www.njpistol.com there is a DR match in Wappinger Falls, NY that weekend.

I see from your profile you are in FL so that may not be much help.

kle: Do you use optics with your guns or stay with open sights? I have a Model 17 and a 14 - no .45 yet - and would like to mount Red Dots on them but thinking it may be better to get the more modern version of these (617 and 686) which are already drilled and tapped for scope mounts. Thank you. Ned...

Sighting in a .22

I've read that most rimfire guns are sensitive to differences in ammunition - in other words the gun may shoot well with one brand but not another. I take this to mean if I sight in using (for example) CCI cartridges then switch to Remington (or whatever) I may need to adjust the sights. If that is ...

Shooting Kiwi: I'm in much the same situation as you; looking for a Model 14/K38 for Distinguished Revolver competition but have the opportunity to get a Model 19 (it has the nickle finish and I'd prefer blued but don't suppose that really matters). Did you have the chance to handle a 14 before acqu...

Another DR question: Ruger GP100 suitable?

I suspect S&W and perhaps older Colt revolvers are most commonly used in Distinguished Revolver competition but has anyone had experience with the Ruger GP100 (actually the GP161 with 6" barrel)? The Ruger is over $200 less expensive than a S&W 686 (using MSRP). I have three Rugers but ...
