My experience with the practice targets from eBay is very good. I bought a couple thousand. Generally my LP10 punches clean holes in them and I generally shoot 5-10 shots per target. They are many times better than the US targets that rip terribly. The dealer is VERY nice. I asked for a sample of th...

Steve - I do get it. I think you make my point - I AM the greatest source of error. If you knew me personnaly you'd say that is an understatement... :) And so it goes that the inherent inacuracy of the target is trivial, and thus would not impact my scores in any meaningful way. Responding to your a...

While the link was posted earlier I assume folks did not go there because the link seemed to refer to building a home range... http://www.pilkguns.com/buildrange.shtml Just so you don't have to go to the link following is a quote from our host Scott who knows a bit about pellet manufacturing... I ag...

But dude - if ya don't keep track of scores - what are you measuring??? Score is the ONLY measure. Agreed that focusing on scores and just shooting a lot does not improve scores, but I think ya have to record them to see if your other process improvements are working. While managerial accounting hel...

Thanks Steve - But I still don't get the point. About the only factors that should impact the POI prediction varying from reality are external factors (perhaps weight/size of pellets in a specific gun, perhaps wind (but not an issue for 10m indoor simulation) and in general these are much lower orde...

Some answer to a few of your questions: 4. This is not an electronic target but an electronic trainer. So I have heard this before but I don't really understand. I surely understand that the scatt captures traces of the movement before and after the shot for analysis, but why would POI prediction n...

Be careful - I think there is a small set screw on the side of the frame that keeps the screw from moving. You have to loosen the set screw before turning the velocity screw. My LP10 seems to tear the paper as well. I upped the velocity and it got marginally better, but the sound increased a lot. I ...

I like the design - I have an old Daisy one that is quite good at catching all the pellets and debri but a bit of a pain to empty.

Reply from USAS
I received the folowing reply from Lindsay Brooke at USA Shooting. It would appear that the ISSF cylinder rule should not be considered an issue for most US competitions. ANSWER: Jim, At USA Shooting events, we do our best to enforce the ISSF rules to the best of our ability and we expect the same a...

The only real answer can come from the governing bodies. I have sent the following email to the USAS competitions department hoping for an interpretation of what official policy should be for US competitions. I could not find an equivalent place to ask the same question for ISSF. There has been a lo...

This is a crappy way of dealing with litigation issues for the ISSF. The ISSF should not be protecting the manufacturers. Other sports simply require a liability waiver for participation in their sport. Skiiing is an example. All of the tickets for skiing in Colorado contain a liability waiver where...

So Richard brings up an interesting point. Searching the rules, I cannot find any other instance of anything that is referred to as the shooter's responsibility. So since it is only the shooter's responsibility, does that mean there is no requirement for the organizer to check and verify? Are there ...

Re: Logic has nothing to do with it...
Read the rule it says that the shooter is responsible for the safety of the cylinder. The ISSF hasn't really said anything.[/quote] To be precise , as quoted by David Levene: Rule 6.2.2.8 It is the shooter’s responsibility that any air or Co2 cylinder has been certified as safe and is still within t...

The problem is that spares will be built and stocked. Every day that they sit on a shelf or in transit is another day off the life of the cylinder, regardless of usage. I'm sure there are not new runs of cylinders for my P34 so functionally it's obsolete.. Seem like quite the screwed up process. Jim

So what does this do to the market for used guns? When buying, one needs to be quite aware of the dates on the cylinders to avoid having to spend a bunch of extra money to have compliant cylinders. New pistol cylinders are $175+ and rifle are $300+. Sellers may have a more difficult time selling a 6...
