P.S. I am finished with this tirade. My apologies to Scotty and the other TT posters for the direction this post went.

Larry, Apparently you did not want to take my suggestion of contacting me personally to dicuss this issue further, that's fine...we'll do it in this forum. I do not feel I need to justify myself to you, but I will answer your concerns so you can sleep at night. I am no longer a member because I no l...

Good point...
Ok, so I am not a member, but does that not allow me to "call out" the members that like to complain and do nothing to help? My membership in USAS has no bearing on whether I can or cannot make a point concerning this topic. Keep in mind, "I" am not complaining about USAS, I am p...

What a post...
So many different ideas have come from this thread that it may be impossible to settle it all. I am very concerned about the future of USAS and how competitive the US will be in the future. One point I want to make is that I have issue with people who continue to complain about USAS, but are unwilli...

I would not refer to Bill and John as "hobbyists". They have put far too much time in on the range to be called that. It may have started off as a hobby, just like the rest of us, but they put in the training and hard work to get to the level they have acheived. Please do not insult their ...

Clarification
Let me make this point right now. You stated: "Let's face it. There are darned few shooters in the USA who are going to sacrifice virtually everything for their international competition dream." To those people who are unwilling to sacrifice, they have no place demanding so much from USA S...

Of course I'm not a USA Shooting member...maybe I'll become one so I can vie for the Colorado State Champioship ; ) I'll wait for you to move out of the state so I can have a chance at it...

I agree...
With Marc Orvin, and I will add my own points as well. There seems to be a lot of complaining about how USA Shooting operates. As a former athlete at the Training Center I have done my fair share of complaining. What I have come to realize is that I believe everyone at USA Shooting is trying their b...

keep in mind...
an electronic trigger is only going to be adavantageous provided your hold is solid, sights are aligned and you have a smooth trigger release. i do not feel electronic is better than mechanical. you can the best equipment in the world, or what you think is the best, and still have a poor technique. ...

I agree!!!
I agree 100% with Pilkguns. I only considered testing my airgun after Erich suggested it to me prior to the Sydney games. Even after all the testing, my group size only decreased by a small amount. It did however put my mind at ease by showing me my gun was in top working condition. Any bad shots we...

good point!!!
Guest makes a good point about bad shots. People have a different idea of what "bad shot" means. some people thnk a bad shot is just a score. a true bad shot is a shot that did not go where you called. Tens can be "bad shots". I admit, I use "bad shot" interchangebly. I...

you're kidding me, right???
Ok, the first point. You state that because there is more ability to carry a firearm in the US, the shooting sports are on the rise?? I don't see the correlation of carry ability and the rising number of OLYMPIC style shooting competitors. Personal protection and recreation are two different things....

correct me if i am wrong...
In some of the posts regarding this issue of national records, I am reading people claim the lack of participation in shooting has to do with the inability of the shooter(s) to set national records. If that is the case, how ridiculous of an idea is that? It may be important to a very small group of ...

i agree
i originally stated i agree with the 10 competitor rule. well, after reading all the posts i learned that the number of competitors is difficult even at Nationals, i have chagned my opinion. i agree with Marc. that seems logical when you look at the examples he presented. who knows, with all the com...

a couple points
there are a couple things to keep in mind about changing sights. first of all, ideally every shot you should be able to determine if your sights need adjusting or if you committed a technical error. i had a coach in high school tell me that you essentially lose nothing by changing your sights. he ex...

records
Juniors can set records at the junior olympics held every year. i am certain the amount of competitors meets the requirement. here's another thought. the current record for air pistol men is 589 set in 1990. talking to other shooters there has been speculation that this record is "sketchy"...

i disagree
I believe that there should be a minimum number of competitors to achieve a national record. if i decide to run a sactioned match with my friends at my home range, i will more than likely be very relaxed. on the other hand, if i compete against a larger group where there might be more chance of more...

experience
Kenny, testing ammo is something that each shooter needs to do on their own. you can take suggestions from other shooters concerning what they tested and that particular ammo may not work in your gun at all, even if it is the same model pistol. keep in mind when you test a brand of ammo, you also ne...

reality
The reality is at the Olympic level, medal count IS the bottom line. I would even say I agree with this. Any sport at the Olympic level is no longer recreational. Your job as an athlete at the Olympic level is to win. The USOC is not going to fund programs just to say it sent athletes to the games. ...
