GRIP???

Rob,

Why do you suggest to regrip on every shot? I never found a problem with keeping the grip from shot to shot. To me it was an issue of, I already had a grip on the gun, no need to regrip. Unless it was extremely warm on the range and there was an issue with sweat...

My advice on calling a shot and moving sights based on that applies to both NEW and EXPERT shooters. It's all basic shooting. All expert shooters do differently than new shooters is apply the basics more consistently and proficiently. There is nothing in shooting that needs to be "kept" fr...

I agree...

with David. Numerous times I experienced having to move sights due to different ranges, electronic targets, after travel, etc. It is more than just one click in most instances. Then again, sometimes none at all. Regardless, move the sights if necessary, no matter how they were set the last match you...

No...Nicole...

You mentioned shooting with your sights as they are for numerous shots to "collect data" regardless of where the shots were landing. Unfortunately a match only lasts for 60 shots, you do not have time to shoot several hundred shots to "collect data". Two shots in the same area af...

Calling shots is not the most exciting part of shooting, but it is necessary to becoming a better shooter. There is no way to learn from your mistakes without calling your shots. This is where follow through becomes very important. It is very hard to call a shot if there is no follow through. Withou...

My $.02

It absolutely floors me when shooters try to use statistics/data analysis, etc., etc. when trying to talk about shooting. Let's keep the shooting simple guys. Train (really hard), shoot the match and then work on what did not go well in the match at the next session. DO NOT cloud your minds with sen...

Move your sights...

That's what they are made for...people are too afraid of moving their sights. Sure don't move your sights on every shot, otherwise you will be chasing shots. If you call a shot as a ten and it is a nine, you might want to start thinking about the sights. If you shoot a second shot into the same area...

Ok...

First of all, don't make it sound like women don't have any events to compete in at all. I will stick to the pistol events as an example. You point out free pistol...women have an event called Sport pistol you are more than welcome to compete in. Both sexes have the air events. Men do have Rapid fir...

Grip

I see no problem with the current grips being used, just ask the top shooters. Keep this in mind as well, if you give everyone a new upgrade to equipment that will make you shoot better, everyone will have that same equipment. So once again you will have the top shooter at top and the novice shooter...

The Hammerli 480 is an excellent pistol. Ohio State and Camp Perry Champion John Bickar used one to beat several Olympians at this year's Top Gun Match for a Second Place overall finish. I hear he hadn't been training as much as them, so it must be the gun that helped...

Paul, I think what happens when you put one lens over another, it tends to allow for reflections to "bounce" around between the two lenses. If you could find an anti reflective coating it may help, but I don't know how easy that will be without having it professionaly done. As far as the o...

I would highly discourage anyone from forming an opinion of a coach's style based on something read on the internet. We all know how much the media screws up information and misquotes people. In addition to that, it's on the freakin' internet. Mony, are you one of those people that says, "If it...

I do not believe any dry firing is allowed once record firing has begun. If dry firing were allowed until the command stop, the person who shoots his last shot does not get to dry fire due to "STOP" being called shortly after. I understand what the book reads, but the implication is NO DRY...

Ok

I understand your points Stan. I was seriously asking why people go to Nationals without considering making the National Team. My opinion is the only reason to go is to make the team.

I of course am biased and do not want to see the team selection process tampered with, that's all.

One question...

Can I ask what the big draw of Nationals is to the shooters not looking to make the National Team? Why would USAS change the scheduling of a match that determines the National Team at the request of shooters not looking to make the team?

USA Shooting is doing what they can with the resources they have. They govern the International shooting events for the US. In order to develop more 560 AP shooters to the next level, the 560 AP shooters need to train. This would also apply to the other events, not just AP. Like I said before, USA S...

Steve, There is already a system that rewards the shooters for shooting well. Every year if you shoot high enough scores, you can make the National Team or the Pan Am, Olympic, WC, or CAT teams. With making those teams comes the chance to gain International experience. Once you make a National or In...

I once complained to Erich Buljung about the recoil from my LP1. I know some shooters swear that gun has recoil. But here's my story. Erich told me my airgun does not recoil, I was adding the recoil through my technique and that the gun should not move one bit when the shot broke. Of course I was sk...
