with Dave. The 500g is just a rule. Like anything in shooting, if you get use to it, then you will become proficient. If they were to change the weight rule to 1000g I am sure scores would go down for a bit... But, just like Rapid Fire is going through change, the scores are going up again because t...

it is nice to have a good trigger setup, but it really does not make you squeeze the trigger any better. just put weight on the first stage and then the second and see what feels good. then check to see if it is of legal weight. people get too worked up about setting a trigger at a specific weight a...

Technically you can call it a single stage, but keep in mind you take up some of the weight of the over all trigger pull with that first stage. Not only do you get your trigger finger in place and set to do it's work, you take up some of the weight prior to lift. My theory on coaching is to introduc...

a new shooter may not have the training to be able to control their pressure on the trigger finger as well as an experienced shooter. you may have more of a safety issue with a new shooter. my opinion is that applying pressure and knowing how much prior to a lift will come after one developes a good...

Nano, Try counting to 3 after you release the shot and if you don't then score it as a failed exercise. Rob. After this quote there was further discussion about holding the gun up for a period of time, but no reference to it being a continuation of the shot process. I am just not referring to this ...

at equipment check-in...
at any major match you usually get your equipment checked prior to any official shooting. this is where match officials look at the various articles to include guns to see if they are legal for use in competition. this is where grips will be looked at. i hope that is what you meant... Mike Douglass

Crutch??
I can see Noptel and like systems becoming a crutch for newer shooters. Instead of watching the process and paying attention, a shooter may just shoot downrange and wait for feedback from the device to tell him what he is doing wrong. Seems like it would be a hinderance as opposed to an aid. With al...

When did he (Miller) start shooting his mouth off? I never read anywhere where he bragged about how he was going to win...if you are going to imply that he did, then it is your task to find that and post it here. The point I am making is that accusations are being made of Miller to the point that he...

The original statement I argued against was the speculation that Miller did not care about performance and training and I want to stick with that. So, he may say stupid things, once again I think the media adds their own little flair to it as well. Also, I read the link that the person posted to bac...

I have also done the back of the target method, but the backstop shooting worked much better. As I said you can still pinpoint with a small backstop, in this case the target, when area aiming. It is true that you can work on many things using the back of a target. With the backstop though, you can r...

you just shoot into a backstop. no target to look at. preferably a large back stop, not an airgun backstop because people will tend to pick a point on the small back stop and that defeats the purpose of this exercise. any time i hear someone complain of recoil, it is in reference to a flip of the mu...

cool...we agree!!
Some people really argue that point. I will say that maybe a spring piston air gun might recoil, but not the more current guns. Of course the gun will move a little because of the projectile moving through it, but this does not necessarily mean there will be a rise in the muzzle of the gun. It's ama...

Recoil on an AP???
I have stated this before...APs do not recoil. They push back a little, but the front sight does not flip up. If your technique is strong your sights will stay aligned when the shot breaks. This can be done with an LP1!!! Erich Buljung and I got into it once about recoil. He then had me shoot into t...
