I think it's Champions Shooters Supply (in Ohio) that has the lowest priced boots (under $100). You may want to check with your club to see if they are part of CSS' club discount program. They have some nice price cuts for their name-brand & Freeland brand gear.

We're close enough to you for indoor smallbore rifle at 50 ft, and air rifle/pistol at 10m. See wheatonrifleclub.org for details (don't get thrown by the "Wheaton" name - we are in the Carol Stream/West Chicago area) Our club pres. is also very involved with Boy Scouts (as are some members...

Surviving Perry

Was that on Thursday? No wonder we were hot! The record high in Toledo, Ohio was 102 F. By Friday, the medics were walking around telling people to drink at least two bottles of water per hour and eat salty snacks (high: 96F). Saturday seemed more brutal, higher humidity perhaps. Too bad about your ...

You also cannot use the "antlers" at some of the sanctioned matches. NRA did not allow them at the 3P Nationals at Camp Perry. And yet I saw them (at least one of them) used on the line at Camp Perry during the NRA Smallbore 3P Nationals (July 21-23). IMO, they just look like an accident ...

Get away from the wild crowd

I was shootin at GATT guns which is very close to home.
You should join a private club. The Elgin Rifle & Pistol Club should be close enough to you. Some good bullseye shooters there. Indoor 50 ft range, access by keycard.

Vintage qualification program :^)

OK, Coach Paula reporting "live" from the Wheaton Rifle Club, repository of vintage junior ephemera. Here's the score conversions from an old NRA Qualification record card. The original poster can do with this what he wants. All following scores are A-36 target, 5 shot groups: Pro-marks 8 ...

conversion A36 to A17

The older Qual program requirements had the conversion listed. IIRC Pro-Marks in A17 = 20 or better, and A36 = 12 or better. The old tracking cards that you could buy from the NRA had both listed. If my little gray cells can remember, I'll grab one from our clubhouse & post back in a few days.

Yes, it sure sounds strange that a participant wouldn't be allowed any award, ESPECIALLY an award in that particular category where the lens is allowed.

Glad to have helped! A few radical thoughts: Anschutz/Stenvaag boots seem to have a lower heel. Switch boots. Alter the insole to lower the heel inside the boot. Introduce the boot soles to the belt grinder. Or spend some time in higher heels (I really don't want to say "high heels", if yo...

I also like the new format. It's easier to catch the replies when the threads bubble to the top.

One suggestion for future forums: a dedicated area for match announcements, camp & clinic info, events postings, etc.

Thanks! PL, Wheaton Club
