Another vote for the Daisy 888 rifles and Friends of the NRA grants. As for equipment, rifles, off hand stands, gloves, eye protection, targets, pellets, pellet traps, some sort of back stop for the errant shots so you aren't putting holes in the wall. The kids will also need some sort of spotting s...

Bart, I don't know of many air rifle clubs with the funds that would be required to purchase your trailer. Most around here are junior shooting programs that shoot in school classrooms, fair ground buildings, meeting halls, or garages. All you really need is about 40' of space and some simple back s...

They had a phone message a couple of weeks ago that said they were out of town. I finally got a hold of them once on the 4th or 5th, they promised me an e-mail with a tracking number for the items they were shipping to me. Never received the e-mail and haven't received the package. Haven't had any o...

The Winchester was probably a model 52, they were a very popular target rifle up through the 70's and even into the 80's.

$2,500 sounds pretty steep for a price back then.

My daughter shoots an Anschutz 2002. I've done quite a bit of pellet testing with it. With a pellet it likes it will shoot a 10 shot group no bigger than one pellet hole. So the first thing I would advise is to test various brands, sizes, and lots of pellets to see what your gun likes. The next best...

First I've heard of it. But according to their specs it doesn't look like Crossman has learned anything from the Challenger 2000. Specs say it will shoot 70 shots without a refill. Normal 3 P air rifle match is 60 record shots, plus sighters. You're still going to have to fill it up during a match.

Another source of new shooters is the Boy Scouts.

Here in the US Boy Scouts are not allowed to shoot handguns, but Venture Scouts are allowed to shoot them after taking an NRA Basic Pistol class.

I don't have any results handy. But I did some testing last year for a local JROTC team. Their school would not allow lead pellets to be used in the school, claiming it was a health hazard. We tried several brands of lead free pellets in several different rifles and couldn't find any that would gro...

I've never used a pony bottle, But, I would think that since an 80 cu ft bottle has 13.3 time more volume than a 6 cu ft bottle, you would have to fill it that many times more often. It might be more convenient to bring to a match, but the cost is almost as much as a spare cylinder for your rifle. I...
