Gear Used by Competitors

Is there a listing of which pistols competitors are using for the different Olympic and Paralympic events?

Edit: I'll start. Steyr seems to be the preferred air pistol. What are the preferred 22s?

Re: Shooting Glasses prescription lens (where to buy?)

I've spent a lot of time looking for the correct lens for the many different conditions and ranges.

Ordering from Zenni Optical allows several things to be purchased for very little money.

Alan Toler will rent you a lens kit to try at your range. He will then make the lens you select as well.

Bullseye is a gold standard. I cannot see it being discontinued.

Titegroup, N310, Clays, Red Dot, WST etc. all work well.

It could be a lot of things. It could be losing focus on the reticle. It could be cheek pressure, parallax, fatigue, creeping up on the scope, etc. Watch his position closely as he shoots. You may see what it is. A lot of phones have video now. Try using that. There are lots of ways to catch things ...

I recently tested 14 different types of ammo in a gun that I thought was no longer shooting well. I tested from a bench with a Caldwell rest and rear rabbit ear bag. I used a 24x Weaver T-24. It gave me a fair comparison. I selected the ammos that did the best and shot from position with the scope. ...

I have been using the same set of Chip McCormick 8 round Power Mags for years now. They work great, and I cannot remember any mag related malfunctions. I use the standard Springfield Armory mags in my hardball gun. They work great as well. I have loaned them to guys that were having feed issues. The...

Here are a lot of differing viewpoints on the subject.

I am going to have to try the action screws.

I have never checked them before. I have a friend that is going to let me borrow the tool.

Ammo, Cleaning, and Breaking All the Rules

Please forgive a cross post from Rimfire Central and AR15.com. I thought people might find this interesting. I put this here to get some extra views versus the 22 forum. I figure most people have a 22, but few people make it to that forum. At a recent match, things didn't go so well. After the match...

Anyone have a good position overview?

I have read a lot about bullseye positions. I would now like to find a good source of information describing a fundamentally sound position for the olympic pistol disciplines.

Any links or sources would be appreciated.

I have several dedicated presses. Something that works great is to use a few buddies' presses to see what style you like best. The Ultimate Reloader videos on YouTube are fantastic for seeing the whole process with several different presses and caliber conversions.

Orion,

It is based on performance versus the average score. A person who is 1.0 shoots the average score in every match. A person who shoots a 1.02 shoots 2% above average in matches.

Most people say slide mount, but I prefer the feel of a frame mount. Shoot both, and decide which feels best to you.

A frame mount feels more like a standard iron sighted gun to me. The slide mount has a mushier recoil feel.

I will echo the advice that a good .22 is a great way to break into the sport. At our local matches, you can use a .22 until you get comfortable shooting the centerfire and the .45.

Dryfire is a great training tool. It's free, and you don't have the hit the range or the reloading press to do it.
