Re: Walther LP300 - steer, advice and so on...?

If the price is right and the grip fits you, jump on this AP. Unless you are an Olympic class shooter, you most probably will not benefit from anything newer. A few words of caution. You may need a new air cylinder. My experience is that they will fail after 8 to 10 years depending on use and your m...

Re: Walther LP300 - tightness of cylinder with pressure

I have owned an LP300 for about 15 years now. It came with 2 cylinders when new. One cylinder developed a crack in the side wall of the cylinder within a year and was replaced under warranty. The other cylinder just refused to hold any pressure after 8 years of use to 250 bar. I am still using the r...

Re: Nutrition tips that actually work?

The only impact on my shooting has been from other than weight changes (bad knees getting worse, and degenerating discs), but I do find the loss of the excess weight gives me more energy when I eat right (more protein, fat, and complex carbs like veggies). I believe the link you posted is for those...

Re: Looking for spotting scopes.

Kowa TSN-600 series with Kowa TE-17HD 25x LER eyepiece. I believe Nikon makes one as well with Long Eye Relieeyepiece. I can definitely recommend the Kowa 25x LER eyepiece as well. So much easier to use even if you don't have glasses on. +1 on this recommendation. This is what I have and it is grea...

Re: Anyone use or have opinion on this PCP hand pump

I have a similar pump. It takes me about 150 pumps to fill a cylinder up to 200 barr. By the time the cylinder is full, my heart is pounding. It is hard work. It takes me a few hours to calm my heart rate down for shooting. A small scuba tank is much easier.

Re: Matchguns MG2 and MG2R

I have owned a MG2 for many years now. About 6 months after I bought the MG2, I installed the RF upgrade kit. My comments: The original MG2 looked a little too spacey for me. The steel plates of the fore end weight worked well in adjusting the muzzle flip. I am just too traditional to get past the s...

Re: Air Pistol Test Group Sizes

Assuming you have a quality match grade air pistol, you should see a single hole only slightly larger than the diameter of the pellet for a five shot group and definitely no larger than one and one-half times the diameter of the pellet. Most all match grade air pistols come with a test target with a...

Re: Smith&Wesson 52 .38WC

For the M52 you must use wad cutter bullets and any 148 grain 38 cal wad cutter will be just fine at 25 yards. If you shoot 50 yards, I recommend against the hollow base wad cutter bullet because the longer bullet is only marginally stable at that distance due the the slow twist of the S&W barre...

Re: 1911 Target Use

Red dot sights with no magnification work best. This is what almost all bullseye shooters use. Some people have tried using 2X long eye relief scopes on their pistols and they lose trigger control when the cross hairs move over the target. If you can maintain trigger control, then it does not matter...

Re: trigger stop

It seems to me that there are 2 choices for a trigger stop, either a hard stop or no stop. Does anyone know if a soft stop has been tried for pistol? What I mean, is it possible to have the trigger press against a second spring or elastic stop, independent of the main trigger and hammer springs? Wha...

Re: Matchguns MG2R current revision?

Where did you find out about the tungsten weights - I can't see them on their website?
I just put two .32 cal bullets in each hole to add a little more weight to the front of my MG2R.

I used round nose bullets and I had to shave off a little lead to make them fit tight.

Re: S&W 14-2 for center-fire pistol

Luckily I'm not a collector.. Bought some 105 gr swc bullets to test that light loading. Any suggestions on 38 loads with N310 powder and 105gr swc bullet? N310 is not the best powder for 38 Special with a 105 grain bullet. The problem is that with the 105 grain bullet the interior case volume is a...

M15 instead of M14

I have a S&W Model 15 with a Nil-Grip on it and it fits in the measuring box nicely. The only difference between the M15 and M14 is barrel length and front sight. The M15 is a 4 inch barrel and the M14 is a 6 inch barrel. The front sight on the M15 is a ramp and the M14 has a patridge style unde...

MG2RF

Deadeyedick, I bought a MG2 several years ago and upgraded to Rapid Fire shortly thereafter. I have the alloy front weight and I found that the front was still a bit too light. So, I opened those empty spaces and put in two .32 caliber blunt nose jacketed bullets on each side to give me a little mor...

Doubling

I had a similar problem with my IZH-35. Another poster suggested that I run a sharp point or pin punch over the bolt face to check for burrs. I could not see any burrs, but I sure felt some with my pin punch. The burrs were right on the bolt face around where the firing pin comes through the bolt fa...

This is called "follow through".

Keep the sights aligned on the target during follow through and you will have no problem.

trigger adjustment

Jar-hed, If the spring is still there, someone previously may have backed out the trigger weight screw too far and the spring underneath the screw may be out of position. I did this to my IZH-35 many years ago and I had to hold down the spring and replace the screw to get the trigger weight adjustme...
