I had problems with floaters until I increased my water intake to near recommended levels. Problem solved. BTW, I am 71 years old.

Right handed but left eye dominant
From my own experience, you have the choice to change hand & eye dominance. I was a right hand shooter with right eye dominance. Advancing arthritis in my right hand required me to change to over to my left hand. Within four weeks of shooting five to six times per week I was back to my former sc...

Re: Min Velocity
I guess it depends on what you want, clean holes or accuracy. I disagree that you have to compromise accuracy for clean holes or vice versa. Using good quality paper targets you will get clean holes at muzzle velocities around 450 ft/s (air humidity plays a bit of a role here). Muzzle velocity on t...

Air humidity also affects how clean a hole your pellets cut. Humid air demands higher muzzle velocity. Living in dry air prairie country I get clean holes with inexpensive practise targets from Cibles Canada Targets (Stock # 103T). I also think a minimum muzzle velocity of 420 ft/s is needed to achi...

I am an air pistol shooter and this is my experience: I am right handed and right eye dominant. Last year, at age 66, I had to switch to my left hand because of arthritis in my right. Within four weeks of shooting 20 to 40 shots most nights I was back to my normal score. Then an old injury in my rig...

Inserting a damaged pellet into the barrel possibly restores the shape of the pellet skirt if the skirt is dented outward, or make it worse if bent inward. If the damaged skirt of a pellet is bent inward the pressure of the propellent will be the same outside the rim and as inside. In this case I do...

Go to the Calgary Rifle and Pistol Club at the Steve Johnson Range - they are very welcoming, they have club pistols and they will be eager to help you with your quest. Have a look at their website: http://www.albertahandgun.ca/ By the way, I too started with pistol target shooting when I retired. G...

Radial compensator: I think it actually is a linear compensator (outlets are in line with the barrel axis). How nice of Steyr to honour TAU Brno as an industry leader - their TAU-7 target model has had this type of compensator for years, they even combined it with radial outlets. Anyway, it is good ...

Shooting Glasses Monocle Concave?
We next measured my front sight distance. 1.4+ meters as I recall (long arms). Hmmm...either you are a knuckle dragger, or your recollection is faulty, or this is a typo, or this may be the explanation: Eye to front sight distance was more likely 1.04 m, rather than 1.40 m. I am 6'-4" tall wit...

Chicken finger
Thank you, Steve. Practically all the causes of chicken finger enumerated in your post and the others definitely apply to me. While practice is not as much fun as doing the real thing, finding your real potential based on hard and smart work is in the end the most rewarding part of precision shootin...

Chicken finger
I have my work cut out for me. Overcoming my hesitant trigger finger is important to me - it is the key to progressing further as a precision target shooter. This being my main hobby I certainly do not begrudge the time and effort involved. Your responses make me realize once more what a wonderful c...

Chicken finger
Well into my retirement I started 10 m air pistol target shooting practice about 18 months back. I have done much reading and my monthly aggregate scores continue to improve, bit by bit. The one problem I have a hard time overcoming is my endless struggle with chicken finger. I have one pistol, a St...

Jipe[/quote] The process for Steyr cylinder is to fill the cylinder, then sligthly+shortly open the bleed screw (really a little) to let any moisture escape, by doing some air will be lost => the pressure will drop (a little because the bleed screw is only slightly+shortly opened) and then pump a co...

Right-Handed but Left Eye Dominant
All my life I was right handed and right eye dominant. Over the years my right eye deteriorated to the point where vision can not be corrected, due to a 40 year old injury. To be able to continue shooting AP I changed earlier this year to aiming with my left eye by taping over my right eye lens. Wit...

Thumb pressure is the most serious problem I am trying to overcome. Any thumb pressure locks up my trigger finger!

I'm glad that you are a person of principle. However, you make a big assumption in implying that everyone has the same principles that you do. O, come on Fred, how do you jump to the conclusion that I imply everyone has the same principles I do? And you, Richard H - I have bought four guns online t...
