The fore sight aperture size used by individuals, varies widely. Age is probably one of the factors that causes this variation. I've gradually increased the ring diameter over last few the years. Although my sight picture is probably the best it's ever been. I've used an adjustable foresight in the ...

Re: MEC glasses VS Champion Olympic

I've used the MEC glasses for a bunch of years. A good compromise between light weight and rigidity.

The ISSF only brings in changes to the rule book in January of the year following the Olympic games. So there should be no major changes for the next four years. Well, 3 years 7 months... ish

From what I understand you have the best ability to hold still using plus or minus about 10 to 15% from straight. this however makes your muscles more tired than shooting in position B so can be detremental towards the end of a match, then there is many other factors to take into account like body ...

The only pistol discipline that I shoot is AP, and my position is close to B.
My left foot would be a fraction further forward, by slightly more than the length of the big toe.
I have, in the past, experimented with a position more like D.
I don't think I've ever seen A.

I have seen at least one person shoot with a lens, where the concave surface is away from the eye.

Yes it should. My match 54, circa 1979, drops into modern stocks without any problem.
Earlier actions that have the safety as part of the bolt, are the only ones that might have trouble fitting into a more recent stock.

In answer to question 1. Yes they do have a grommet that seals against the bottom face of the fitting.

The reduction in numbers that you are suffering at Camp Perry, is mirrored on the other side of the pond. In the UK, the Scottish meeting, and Bisley smallbore week have seen considerable reductions in competitors. And the Scottish meeting in particular is running at a loss, with Bisley close behind...

I've seen a Norwegian shooter adopt a position, where her free hand is placed, palm out, against her thigh, slightly to the rear, so that her finger tips point at the heal of her left foot. She uses a waistcoat that has a loop of fabric along the bottom, so that her hand is located in the same posit...

The only time that I've experienced difficulty closing an Anschutz bolt, was with a batch of ammo that had been poorly finished in the factory, and seemed to have missed out the final machining stage. The driving bands around the bullet had not been finished properly, so the round was over sized.

selection process

As far as I'm aware the process goes something like this. All completed actions/barrels are test fired at the factory. and when they produce groups below a certain standard, they are put aside for further testing, if they continue to produce similar groups using a range of velocities and manufacture...

I've used this glove in the prone position for a good few years. It does a good job of spreading the pressure from the handstop over a wide area.

Re: just shoot it...

Just go to the range and shoot the rifle. When you are done, clean it thoroughly. "Running in" or "breaking in" a barrel only applies to highpower. Talk directly w/ the custom barrel makers and they will say the same thing. Shoot it. exactly. And the guest post, with the "s...

Re: Running in new rifle barrel

I have just purchased a new Feinwerkbau 2700 and I was wondering what peoples thoughts are on running in a new rifle barrel, ive done some searching around the internet and peoples views vary anywhere from 36 shots cleaning in between groups of shots in a sequence and 500 shots. i was wondering wha...

CJ, the current line of thinking in prone isn't to be near 30 degrees anymore. All the international coaches I talk to say 40ish degrees firstly so you never have an official come by to check your angle in the middle of your qualification. Second is to get more of your upper body behind the rifle. ...

Yes. You should be using a blinder over your non-aiming eye, rather than holding it closed. I use a translucent plastic, so that the amount of light reaching both eyes is the same.
