Andy, just as a matter of interest, are you cross-dominant (do you shoot right arm, left eye or vice versa? In the past that's the only time I've seen the windage thing be an issue on a Morini.

Not sure what you mean by much better. It will be a little crisper, but I believe one of the major advantages of the Steyr trigger is the subtle and smooth roll on release. 90 degrees is a good, safe sear setting. Reducing it may leave the sears hanging on a knife edge. This may make it unsafe, may ...

Valiant XS40

Just posted a blog on the whole tale of the rifle; a lot of coaches and shooters will be interested I'm sure.

We'll be settled back in Shreveport sometime in late summer I guess. I'm hoping when I get my US citizenship next year I'll have the motivation to get competitive again. Might even hit the road to TX to fling some lead down range!

Still kicking

Okay, so I'm not shooting as much as I'd like, but I'm sure getting to see a lot of the country! I've started a blog that's really more a general target shooting thing. If I don't commit some of this to writing soon I'll be too senile to recall any of it. Do you like the name? Sounds pretty apt if y...

Pilkguns email down

The Pilkguns office in Tennessee has been having internet issues for the past two and a half days. We're still not sure what the problem is, but it appears their local service provider has dropped the ball. If anybody has emailed them recently and has received no answer, this is probably the reason....

Old and new software not compatible

It sounds to me like (and I'm assuming a bunch here) that you have loaded the new 3.80 version on top of an older version of the software on your Windows 98 machine. If so, that will cause all manner of problems. You have to delete the old version first OR load it to a separate folder. The new versi...

Sounds to me like you're not opening it with enough force to cock the action. When you push the lever (3) back into place, is it hard - ie do you feel pressure building up as you close it, or is there a hissing noise and not much back pressure? I think where you're going wrong, is when you open the ...

With respect, I have to disagree. What distinguishes good shooters from others is their ability to control their nerves not the fact that they shoot through them. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but I know a bunch of world class shooters who accept their elevated excitement level and use a t...

Shooting under pressure is what magnifies weakness in a shooting technique. Most people practice a technique that only works well under the BEST of conditions. When pulse rate is low, shooter is comfortable, not distracted, not nervous. Any trigger technique that relies on ultra-fine motor control i...

I'm back on planet earth now

Sorry if this is a little off-topic, but I feel I need to apologize to those I have not returned email to, or have been unavailable to by phone for the past weeks, if not months. It's a long story but I will try to keep it as brief as possible. To those who don't know me, sorry to waste bandwidth he...

Yahoo

I'll second David's scenario, with bells on! The times I have the intestinal fortitude to believe in the unconscious release, I KNOW I get the best results. I firmly believe that any conscious or semi-conscious release is doomed to pull the shot from the center of the target WHEN fine motor control ...

I'm not sure of exact direction from the center of town, but I seem to remember more west than north. We parked our car at the range and had a local club member drive us to within walking distance of the cathedral. It was an instructive lesson on how to drive while talking (using both hands as punct...

New Steyr rifle models unveiled at IWA

After talking about it for some time, Steyr have announced a new mid-priced match air rifle, the LG20 - an updated version of the LG10P that was so popular a few years back. Also released is an upgrade of the LG100, the new LG110 . Sights on the LG110 come standard on an adjustable height base, like...

It seems a gaggle of questions have arisen from this thread... Jeff, you own a B96 if it's CO2 - the B98 is the later pre-charged air version. Top Gun Airguns in AZ have been importing them for some years, I'd try them for a cure for your leakage. Luis, the Aeron repeaters are good guns for the mone...

Trigger analysis

There is plenty of feedback from the stats given without the trigger sensor. Lots of indication of the overall effect of trigger control on the outcome. The trigger sensor is fiddly to fit, and to my mind would be of more benefit to beginner shooters.

CO2

Craig, Steyr still offer all pistol models in CO2. Unfortunately they cost the same as pre-charged air... this becomes a problem if you ever want to sell it later, as the used market has devalued CO2 guns by around $150-200. As much as we'd love to sell you a new gun, if you can find a pre-loved LP5...

Steyr LP50

Just because we have trouble keeping up with demand doesn't mean we don't import them... We should have another batch of LP50s within a week or two. FWB phased out their C55P a couple of years ago. The only other true semi auto currently available is the Aeron B98. I think you'll find any of the 8-s...
