Come on someone! Ed Hall? Doesn't anybody know?
Temptation is getting too much. If I fiddle with the screw and thereby meet my end, you'll all be sorry... won't you?

208: front sight blade mounted in upswept, ribbed projection, which is the same width as the ribbed strip along the top of the barrel. Early versions have a rounded front lower corner to the trigger guard and trigger adjustment limited to weight and 'backlash' (=overtravel). Later ones have a square...

Early Hammerli 208 / 215 trigger adjustment
I have an early 208 with the limited-adjustment trigger. The manual warns against ever adjusting screw 261. Why? What does it do? Isn't this tempting? I suspect it's a sear engagement adjustment, but can anyone tell me for sure? Spencer (bonzer bloke!) has the 215 manual on his site http://www.austr...

My DES69 has an adjustable trigger blade, but the early trigger guard pattern. I think, however, it's otherwise similar to yours. The magazine lips certainly do cause ejection. Interestingly, however, when investigating this, manual cycling causes the rim of a spent case to scrape along the about-to...

Hammerli certainly called their model 208 and 211 'International': it says just that on the factory booklet. It's possible that the 'International' got dropped for the 208S version. However, I think a predecessor was also called the International. Sorry, can't find an authoritative reference just now.

Don, these things are complicated, and terminology can be a problem. Do you have the factory 'manual', with an exploded diagram and parts list? Let's assume you are new to the TOZ, and don't know too much about them. If this is wrong, forgive me, but it's better not to presume... When you cock the f...

Will see how different mainsprings would affect accuracy. Also, I will use 2 different TOZ35 pistols one with the stock firing pin and another one with modified sharp edge firing pin. Too many variables! How will you analyse the results? How will you know what contribution the spring has made to yo...

I've edited my earlier post (the first response to the questioner) to include the number of turns. Assuming the spring is not made of some fancy Russian unobtainium, but will be made from 'ordinary' spring wire, these parameters probably adequately specify the spring. If you want to research practic...

I got benefit from the Powerball, although I bought it mostly out of mechanical curiosity. Then a tree I was dismantling fought back and my right thumb was forced back HARD. So then, I couldn't grip the Powerball. Could shoot, though, so not a total disaster. Then, just as my thumb was getting bette...

There are degrees of eye dominance. If vision in the non-dominant eye is OK, or correctable, dominance is not really an issue if you can put a blinder over the non-aiming eye. If you have to keep both eyes seeing, dominance will be an issue, to an extent depending on the degree of dominance. Some pe...

The purpose of any bedding method is to couple the receiver to the stock in a CONSISTENT way. This means that the path for vibrations to travel from action to stock is consistent. Whether the bedding is designed to be as lossless a coupling medium as possible, or whether it's designed to be lossy, a...

Spring #61 bears on item #64. As the bolt lever (loading lever) is pushed forwards, the front projection of #64 moves back along the underside of #74 (the bolt), until it can enter the rectangular recess on the bolt's underside. When this occurs, spring tension resulting from forwards movement of th...

Genglish quite difficulty reading I am finding! But there's good stuff buried in here. My experience with contacts is better than how it's painted here, especially if soft contacts are used with 'comfort drops' which eliminate the drying-up problem (for me, anyway). Thanks for the link. Wish we had ...

Welcome to the autumn of your life! It's just one of the joys(?) of getting older. With age, the lens of the eye gets stiffer, so it takes longer to change shape and therefore to focus. If you spend time focussing at close range, such as reading or using a computer screen, it can take several minute...

No easy answer. What you are aiming for (!) is the correct tension in the screws to produce the tightest group. Because you can't measure the tension directly, but can measure applied torque, torque settings are bandied about. BUT, whether the threads are dry or lubricated, and, if lubricated, with ...
