The drawing doesn't appear to show a buffer at all. On the .22's, the buffer is down inside the back of the frame, and the rear of the bolt runs into it. It's possible with the heavy bolt and an appropriate recoil spring that the older model .32's didn't use one. Ill check it out, did the 22 have a...

Although the screw placements may be a little different, I think the basic geometry and mechanical function of the older design is very similar to the new ones.
