Re: 25m RFP Proposed changes
I believe Bob to be correct on that issue. There are the written rules quoted above and the politics on what is actually being negotiated. As Anthony Downs describes, Agency Theory 1967 A Theory of Bureaucracy, everyone operates to attain their own agenda and their own goals. I am sure the rules and...

Re: 25m RFP Proposed changes
To my knowledge, getting rid of Standard, Free Pistol and Center Fire in the Olympics had nothing to do with the U.S., and the U.S. is going to host the Olympics in LA in 2028. The ones hosting the Olympics are always going to skew the events, rules and infrastructure in their favor. If you look back...

Re: 25m RFP Proposed changes
Standard Pistol is logistically more feasible and in the US, Collegiate already shoots it as well as it would be similar to bullseye .22 course of fire and 4H. Rapid Fire has too many infrastructure requirements where there is almost no range in my area of the country that has one nor does there app...

Re: Best brand of AP for the long term cost (US)
Since I bought my first FWB C-20 in 1990, I have never had any issues or had to have them serviced with any FWB I have bought.

Re: Side Effects of Sudden Interest in Olympic Shooting
When I was running the teams, the NRA was taking all the money for Sectionals and putting it towards the lobbying arm which did not even allow us to cover match expenses. I am glad someone else is organizationally over the Collegiate shooting pistol programs. The problem many have not faced, is that...

Re: Matchgun closure
While both of my Matchguns pistols work great, it took a lot of work to get the MG2RF to work reliably from a really great gunsmith to polish it up. That was after it was sent back to Italy for initial repairs. My MG5 mechanical trigger works really well and I have shot really well with it. Matchgun...

Re: Rating Collegiate Ranges
West Virginia University has a good rifle range with electronic targets/scoring systems which is ported out into the spectator area as of 2017. TCU we used to shoot air pistol and air rifle leagues in their range until non-students were moved to Haltom City. The range was great for rifles, but not w...

Re: Looking for Air Pistol Coaches in DFW area
Are you going to UT-Arlington currently? There are some people that could possibly coach in the area if they have time. The other option is to try a 4H club in your area.

Re: Am I too old?
I love these types of questions. You limit yourself when you start going down this pathway. When I was in college I never really hit my stride or potential and was an above average shooter, but nowhere near where I should have been. Getting older and more mature helped immensely. I calmed down, did ...

Re: Anyone still using CO2 match pistols
I still shoot my FWB C-25 mini and train new shooters for Standard Pistol and Rapid Fire with my FWB C-55. They both work great and still hit 10's. I do use a FWB P-44 Jr. for competition when I was still competing up until 2022. The two big drawbacks of CO2 is getting it refilled if you are not at ...

Re: USA stores
I have bought all my Olympic pistols and everything else from Neal Stepp at ISS in Fort Worth since I started competitive shooting in college in 1989. He is great to deal with and can pretty much get anything from what I can tell.

Re: Mg2
I know Neal Stepp at ISS could order Matchguns, but whether he still will or not is unknown. I bought my MG2RF and MG5 from him when they first came out. I know he was getting frustrated with the lack of response on some issues and had to send my MG2 back to Italy for repair. I got several extra mag...

Re: 25m RFP Proposed changes
Finding a 25 meter range in my neck of the woods was impossible, so I had to jerry rig something up, which is not ideal. Standard PIstol is much easier to shoot in a number of areas including commercial ranges. It also translates well for a number of Bullseye Shooters that could adapt to the Standar...

Re: MatchGun MG2 Carrier Maintenance
I feel very fortunate. I have a first gen MG2RF and I initially had to send it back to Italy due to reliability issues and my gunsmith had to work on it some due to some feeding problems, but I have no problems since and I have not replaced any parts in about 20,000 rounds. My parts looked polished ...
