Re: Thoughts on reforming RF

Men shoot sport pistol at comps over here - you can choose between centre fire and sport pistol, as they're both the same comp. I enjoy the challenge with rapid fire. You do burn through the ammo in training though, I guess rapid air would make it cheaper and more accessible. I shot some rapid at th...

Re: ISSF Center Fire Pistol

I always make sure I set the sight back to sub 6 hold whenever I put the gun away, so if you get into the habit, you shouldn't get confused. I wrote down how many clicks and what direction to change, so I don't forget

I like the idea of a witness dot, might do that

ISSF score tracking

Greetings, does anyone know of any good software for running club level ISSF matches? I'm looking at running weekly matches at our club, looking for a simple database/software where I can enter match scores, and have it track people's scores - ie. historical scores, rolling averages, personal best's...

Re: Thoughts on reforming RF

are you talking about 25m RFP targets or are you advocating clubs start shooting 10m RFP? I'm struggling to understand why RFP is an issue - perhaps our ranges in aus are set up differently? down here in aus, for 25m RFP, we use turning targets - so a range set up with 15 turning targets 3 lots of 5...

Re: Free Pistols are still being made .. ?

Bob, I am seeing this a bit in my club as well, though we're a much smaller club in regional vic. Everyone wants to do IPSC. It's me and 1 or 2 other members who are doing ISSF comps. I'd really like to encourage more people to join me in the ISSF comps, but it's just not as cool as IPSC, so I guess...

Re: Automatic discharge claimed in 10M

I don't believe an uncommanded discharge is an allowable malfunction in 10m qualifying. 6.13.2.1 Allowable Malfunctions are: a) A cartridge fails to fire; b) A bullet or pellet is lodged in the barrel; or c) The gun fails to fire or function properly and the trigger mechanism has been released. So, ...

Re: Do i NEED to use a blinder?

For me, I am right handed, left eye dominate, and I had been closing my left eye and aiming with my non-dominate right eye. This felt fine, but closing my eye was annoying, and I did feel a bit fatigued doing this. Tried a blinder last week that just clips on to the top of my glasses frame on my lef...

Re: Scoring Limits of a Cheap Gun

I've been using an AP20 at our club as it's one of the club guns while I'm waiting for my full license to come through (it must be a pro because it has a gauge on the cyl), and I'm still a beginner but I did shoot 500 with it after 3 months in, and I feel like I have a lot of room to improve and the...

Steyr LP10 CO2 vs Air

I thought this might be interesting - I have ended up owning both an Air and CO2 version of the same era LP10. I remember reading a comment on the forum that the CO2 version was a bit of a rare beast. I wasn't really intending to own 2 x LP10's, but a CO2 one came up at a bargain price, so it had to...

Re: Custom titanium firing pins?

well the FAS 6007 manual has multiple warnings saying to never dry fire the gun, and you may also be damaging the chamber as well as the firing pin, so you might want to stop dry firing it, and look into a dry fire plug or dummy rounds. also, using a harder metal on your firing pin is surely just go...

Re: Anyone still using CO2 match pistols

I am about to pick up a Co2 LP10 shortly - picked it up for around $AU500 and in excellent condition, so I thought why not? I can always pick up a air conversion kit and change it over. I have a same-era Air LP10 (in fact serial numbers for both pistols are in the 720,000-721,000 range) so I should ...

Yep, that one in the image you have as "circa 1998" is exactly what my tins look like. Guess my supplier had some old stock. They shoot fine and they were inexpensive, I'm happy.

H&N High Speed Finale Match pellets

Can't find much info on these air pellets I've picked up, and there's not really much info written on the tin. Are these pellets discontinued or have H&N just rebranded? if I search for "high speed finale match" I just get H&N Finale Match Light. https://i.ibb.co/P47dxqG/finale-mat...

Re: Goal setting and expectations for beginner

with the eye dominance thing. I've just been closing my left (dominate) eye and shooting with my right eye, and that's been working fine. I was at the range for 8 hours yesterday, and I was physically tired at the end, but not really feeling any eye strain from closing my eye the whole time, so I th...

Re: Goal setting and expectations for beginner

Thanks for all of the feedback - I've been shooting weekly, and there is a bit of a contingent of club members going to an open regional comp in early Feb. So I have my sights set on training as much as I can for this comp, and pretty much entering 10m AP and the 25m 22LR events. In our region, men ...

Goal setting and expectations for beginner

About a month ago I decided to get into the sport and have been doing weekly shoots at my local pistol club. Mainly 10m air pistol and a bit of standard pistol. The licensing laws in Australia mean that I will be on a probationary license for the next 6 months, and only after then will I be able to ...
