Distinguished Marksman Mugs and More
There is a woman on Etsy who is making mugs and mousepads with distinguished badges, customized with your personal information. I think they are pretty cool. It came up on usrifleteams.com. The woman behind it is from Ukraine and staying with her daughter in Wisconsin for the duration of the war. It...

Re: Accurize vs MantisX vs Scatt vs Trace
If the squiggly line is all over the place all the time, you need to work on holding exercises to reduce your arc of motion. The SCATT gives you some statistics, time in 10 ring for example, that you can track to see your progress. If you hold is fairly good but in the last 1/2 second it moves quick...

Re: FWB AW93 Feeding Issue
I remember when I got a Hammerli and had some difficulties shooting cheap ammo our local Bullseye gun guru told me if you buy an expensive European target pistol you may have to shoot the expensive European target ammo it was designed to shoot. Switched to SK and Eley and have not had any problems s...

Re: Accurize vs MantisX vs Scatt vs Trace
I have a Mantis and a Scatt. If you can afford it, the Scatt is worth the difference in price IMO. I admit I haven't spent a lot of time with the Mantis, but it seems like it only provides a visual trace and score. I couldn't get it to change the scale so my traces looked pretty small on the screen....

Re: How to stay in shape during holiday?
Bring a 3 pound / 1.5 kg dumbbell and do holding exercises. Stand in firing position, raise the dumbbell slowly, hold in firing position as steady as you can for 30 seconds at a time. Hold out in firing position and make slow controlled figure-8's for 30 seconds. Do as many reps as you can, or as ma...

Buy as many points as you can... then you have to earn the rest.

I've never had a problem getting PC Woody to stick to my grips without adding any holes. If there have been used a lot I wipe them with alcohol.

Re: gip putty or bondo
PC Woody is widely available at local stores and online. It cures quickly, is durable enough to last for years and is still pretty easy to sand, file or carve as necessary. JB Kwikwood is a little harder to modify after it hardens.

Re: Load Testing Protocols
Oh yeah, I shoot the same charge for 185 and 200gr lead bullets. I see a small difference in velocity depending on bullet weight, but no difference in accuracy or POI as long as both bullets are the same quality. This has been with Star and Zero 185 HP, SWC and 200 SWC. A chrono is not necessary for...

Re: Load Testing Protocols
Most bullseye shooters are using a taper crimp for 45. The Lee Factory Crimp die is particularly well regarded. Years ago I tested different (taper) crimps. I couldn't see a significant difference between no crimp and crimp that put a small indentation in the lead swaged (soft) bullet. Others claim ...

Re: Load Testing Protocols
First off you can spends months and years trying to find THE BEST! load for your gun. If you enjoy that sort of thing, great, go for it. For most shooters finding a decent load and practicing / training will improve scores more. IMO Your best bet is to start with a few standard loads and see what sh...

2-part epoxy putty "tootsie rolls" are good for grip modification. PC Lumber and Kwikwood are 2 very common brands.

Re: The logic of Target Sprint
I assume single loading is required because it makes it more of a penalty to miss. It used to be that misses added a time penalty in Biathlon. This made it hard for spectators to know who was really ahead because a person might finish 3 seconds ahead, but have 5 penalty seconds so they are not the w...

Oh, you must be in England.
In the USA we have cents.
As in one percent of a dollar.
Just so you know.

Re: Roughen up quickwood on grips
I use grip tape or superglue and a sample of sandblasting media I got years ago. I would think a pointed Dremel bit would work. I don't think traditional stippling with a punch and hammer is a good idea as it would probably break off chips.

Re: Chamber flag question
Precision pistol shooters are a minority of gun buyers. Those who actually dry fire regularly are a minority of competition shooters in my experience. Most guns will withstand a dry fire every now and then.
Some guns can be dry fired. My FWB manual says not to use any flag or cushion when dry firing.

Re: Suitable Dot Scope for Ruger Mk III ?
Ultra-Dot tube style red dots are extremely common on the bullseye line. 1" are lighter and cheaper. 30mm give a little bigger field of view and more dot options. 20 years ago almost all of the dots were 1" Ultra-dots. Since then lots of different options have appeared, but the 1" UD ...
