Re: For those of you who like to keep your guns squeaky clean !

I read the entire law, as passed, and did not find anything about gun cleaning. https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/7910/text?r=1&s=1#toc-HAF9251141EA7464998107CE44CBEAFCE +1 There are lots of good arguments for gun ownership. Why do so many groups have to make up garbage li...

Thanks marky-d, that's a great way of explaining what it means to follow through until the shot is gone.

Re: Question for tall AP shooters?

To the OP, I don't understand the difficulty you are having. The sights have to be aligned with the chosen aiming point in the background. You have to adjust your feet, stance, posture, arm, grip, wrist and head position to make that happen. If you raise the gun up to target level and the sights are...

Re: What is follow through?

Many will advocate recovering back to the target before putting the gun down. I don't like training myself to align the sights on target and NOT pull the trigger. If I recover back to the target, I plan to take another shot. Sometimes the sights don't align and I abort the second shot. If I am not p...

Re: Preventive maintenance for shoulder?

What kind of shoulder damage would one expect from pistol shooting? Repeatedly holding a 1kg weight with an outstretched arm shouldn't by itself cause damage to a fit person, right? You are probably right. I aggravated an old injury, probably a relatively minor tear of the rotator cuff, by shooting...

Re: Help... Ear plugs for a Daith Piercing

An audiologist could make custom molded earplugs. Maybe they can put tape or padding around the piercing when molding the ear so the plug avoids it? or you could cut away the material around it.

Re: additional weights to pistol?

My physical therapist said never do straight arm holding exercises with more than 5 pounds and 3-4 is probably a more realistic max. Her concern was injury. We aren't built to hold a lot of weight out straight. She said it would also be harmful to my pistol shooting. When you lift heavy weight it en...

Re: Simulating nerves in training

Visualization includes emotions. Visualize yourself at the range shooting the match well and the good shots build confidence in your process and training. Each 10 you shoot increases your confidence in the next shot. I've used self talk "Good shots breed more good shots" sometimes. It's ea...

Re: Focus of concentration and automaticity - pistol disciplines

You can't direct you conscious focus on more than one thing. The subconscious manages all the other stuff in the background. I can't tell you how I pull the trigger. My focus is on the sights. When I see the sight picture developing, there is some conscious thought starting the trigger, but I don't ...

Re: Type of Paper Used for Air Pistol Targets

I have successfully run thin targets through a laser printer to print custom target images on the back (no scoring rings, horiz or vert bars etc.). I don't think it would work with the thick target paper, but never tried. and +1 to all the advice. Any normal paper will tear and rip with each shot. I...

Re: electronic target

3 lasers triangulate the projectile. I read that in the Sius literature. My question is how do they do that? A laser is just a fancy lightbulb. They don't measure anything. They are output only. How does laserscore measure the position? What is the detection method? The most obvious method is to sh...

Does anyone know how the Sius Laserscor works? The web sites I've seen only says "Measured with lasers". Are they using image sensors? Is there a ring of light sensors around the perimeter? It is laser interferometry?

Re: electronic target

Most electronic targets use sound to locate the shot. If the rounds will be sub-sonic (like nearly all precision pistol) they have that black plastic film so there is noise as the bullet hits the plastic. If the shot hits the paper it will (usually) make enough noise to trigger the electronics. If t...

Re: Training tools on a budget

Dry firing, Visualization and practicing getting into position cost nothing. +1 to find a club if you can. I've had limited success putting a laser pointer on my gun (pistol) and recording as I dry fire, looking for a smooth settle into the target and no jump when triggering the gun. Set up a second...
