Pilkington's probably has some parts - and Larry Carter has parts (i.e. Larry's Guns).

here's a potentially dumb question..

Can 22 short be rechambered for 22 LR? - i.e. is there any way to convert these 22 short pistols?

There's a discussion of the S+ in the shooters lounge forum. If it's any help, their Pistol Match is rated at 328 m/s while their standard Match is 325 m/s - according to their info. These share the same max and median (mittlerer) pressures. For whatever reason, my IZH 35 REALLY likes the Pistol Mat...

+1 on KISS

I think that what motivates most people who use different centerfire loads at 25 v 50yds is the reduced recoil. But this isn't such a significant factor w/ 22's. I doubt that you'd notice much difference unless you're currently using HV ammo.

Don't bother with the 1911 grip for the LP5/50. The resulting balance of the pistol is far too nose heavy. I'd tried it on my LP5 for a few weeks and found that attempting to compensate for the balance negated any potential benefit as a 1911 trainer. Another pistol to consider is the DU-10, which is...

Generally it's a bad idea to attempt any restoration on a collectible firearm.

I compete in HP with an AR-15 A2 service rifle. An air rifle trainer is an attractive option. This is actually something that's been discussed in the HP community for a while now - which is probably why the responses on nationalmatch.us are so favorable. Scott: Can this design accommodate the tensio...

Try a rosin bag. These only cost a few dollars. Just be careful to avoid getting the powder into your action.

It's my understanding that Dr. Nick isn't the builder. It's another fellow named George (IIRC). That said, their 1911's and M9's have earned a solid reputation among shooters in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I've never inspected one closely enough to render an opinion, but the owners seem very happy ...

I'd recommend the RRA NM A2 or A4 if you're looking for a good out-of-the-box match service rifle. WOA has a very good rep as well.

check-out the forums at nationalmatch.us as well. You'll find plenty of feedback on rifles and other equipment.

Nope. It isn't. The secrets of designing products for manufacturability and then producing parts with an etremely high degree of precision and repeatability are not secrets. I didn't claim that these manufacturers rely on 'secrets'. They don't have to. But they have developed specific processes for...

I question whether the development and manufacture of a match rifle that's "at least as good" as the current German and Austrian offerings is achievable ultimately by "high tech production methods". By this description, I'm assuming your mean high-precision computer based machini...

You can call Larry's as well, or contact them via email. I've always found the staff to be helpful (e.g. Mary) and have corresponded w/ Larry on technical questions. Cross-dominance isn't that uncommon, they've probably dealt w/ questions similar to yours before.

The most significant initial costs are probably going to be your 1911 and reloading equipment. If you're frugal, you may be able to accommodate both of these for less than $1500 - e.g. by buying used equipment. Reloading equipment isn't absolutely necessary, you can obviously buy factory ammo, but i...
