Re: MONTHLY AP LEAGUE APRIL 2022

Not the most well centred group I've ever shot. The first time I've actually shot a series clear of 7's though! Just need to continue down that path and start to reduce the number of 8's now. 543-9x 88-90-93-88-97-87 M 47 UK LP2 Compact, RWS meisterkugeln 7gr NSRA 4/89 @ 10m https://imgur.com/a/U7gG...

Re: The New ISSF Air Pistol Finals Format

Not watched the full coverage of the Rio world cup event yet but definitely liking this return to points being points and grouping the shots in series of 5. For me the excitement watching the finals was seeing how small the margins were between the shooters. It makes me appreciate just how high thei...

Re: MONTHLY AP LEAGUE FEB. 2022

This months excuse: something popped in my back at the end of Jan and I've not been able to train for the past two weeks. Was very pleased to be fit enough to visit the range this week and it has encouraged me to start doing various yoga and pilates exercises so hopefully it never happens again. 532...

Re: MONTHLY AP LEAGUE JAN 2022

Par for the course at the mo, need to develop a more consistent grip and keep up with the dry fire to refine the trigger and foresight focus. Think I've gone overboard with the filler on the grip of the pistol. Here comes the dremel! 541-11x 90-87-92-90-90-92 M 47 UK LP2 compact https://imgur.com/a/...

Re: Shooting goals for the new year

1. Keep up with the daily dry fire, it's easy to find time every day and had made the biggest difference to my groups now I am more attuned to the trigger feel and keeping better sight alignment throughout the shot and follow through. I also find it strangely addictive, just one more just one more j...

Re: How blurry can you go?

Thanks Gwhite, I'd bookmarked the previous link that was provided and also this new one you've put up. It's gonna be a couple of weeks at least before I go in to see the optician again so I've chance to do some background reading. All credit to my local optician, he checked all the specs I use on a ...

Re: How blurry can you go?

Theres been such a wealth of info on this subject. Thanks all who've contributed. I'm going to get in touch with my local optician again, who on my previous visit was happy to spend time understanding what I needed, and see if they'll permit me to take my AP in with me for a final check before I ord...

Second go at it this month. Sufficient discipline to put the pistol down when things arent developing to plan still a weakness of mine.

Re: WEIHRAUCH HW 75

I've never shot nrimfire or centerfire pistol but if you're wanting an air powered alternative for indoor training wouldnt a HW45 be more akin to the powder burners? Spring powered rather than ssp of the HW75 so you'd have the recoil to deal with. Would you have any opportunity to try both the HW75 ...

Re: New to 10m (and AP in general)

I loved the HW40! Got one midway thru 2020 and used it pretty much everyday, either in the back garden or shut in the garage when the weather was bad. It helped that I'd been browsing this forum for advice and tips and started doing things with more consistency and repeatability. Sold it to put the ...

Re: Monthly air pistol league December 2021

First go for the final month of another topsy turvy year. Well, actually second go but I quickly discovered that single malt is not a performance enhancing substance when administered the night before shooting in generous measures. Wobbly, much? 534-7x 88-89-92-90-88-89 NRSA 4/89 targets 10m ISSF M ...

Re: How blurry can you go?

Thanks for all for input. It made me think i must be missing something as I didnt think my eyes are really that bad. So I had another eye test this morning with a local optician, one who was happy to spend a bit of time finding out what I was looking for and explaining the differences in the prescri...

Re: How blurry can you go?

Thanks for the replies. I think the new prescription means I actually have the rearsight in clearer focus than the foresight.

The old prescription still works ok for me so I'll stick with that for shooting for now and start searching round for an optician who's familiar with needs of target shooters.

How blurry can you go?

I've just picked up my new glasses, a pair of readers, and with the new prescription the foresight is now very crisp and clear as is the rearsight. I think both eyes are now +1.5. The target is considerably more blurry than using my previous prescription. Didn't seem to affect my shooting, things ju...

Re: MONTHLY AP LEAGUE NOV. 2021

Cancellation of offsprings soccer training meant I got to visit the range and shoot indoors last night. A couple of absolute howlers that ended up high in the 7 but pleased that I've managed to produce a couple of sessions back to back at a similar level. 546-9x 90-92-92-90-91-91 M 47 UK ISSF 10m, N...

Re: MONTHLY AP LEAGUE NOV. 2021

Wow, you must be in a pretty quiet area of London to be able to shoot in your garden. I lived there for grad school and I've always wanted to move back, but I remember it being such a pain in the ass to go shooting. Now that I'm into AP and I shoot in my kitchen ('MERICA), it would be super disappo...

Re: MONTHLY AP LEAGUE NOV. 2021

Re: My Road ... 10m AirPistol

Your story sounds similar to mine GarField000, cheap ssp pistol (HW40) to start me off last year and only started to get more serious after I picked up an old LP2 mid way through this year. Regular dry fire to start to maintain stability and sight alignment throughout the shot process is starting to...

Re: MONTHLY AP LEAGUE NOV. 2021

Managed to exert a bit more discipline in my shooting this eve and made some improvement over my previous pb. Looking back I think this is my first session at the range where everything hit the black. Next goal, keep it all within the 8 ring! 533-6x 87-90-87-89-86-94 10m NRSA 4/89 LP2 & R10 7gr ...

Re: MONTHLY AP LEAGUE OCT. 2021

But for the third card I might have posted a PB this month. As it is all the excellent advice I've been reading here has at least allowed me to start to recognise the errors I'm making that lead to poor shots. I'm resisting the temptation to twiddle with the rearsight adjusters for now, leaving the ...
