Residue removal

The unburnt powder and lead residue does not adhere strongly to the aluminum muzzel brake. I always just used a small screwdriver or scratch awl and the stuff just popped off.

New to CO@

Oh well..... it sounded too good to be true.
But, has anyone ever tried it? I don't remember where I read about it.

New to CO2

I'm told there is an easier way. Just attach your cylinder to your large tank and open the valve to let the CO2 enter. Do not chill the cylinder first. You will not fill the cylinder completely but you will have plenty of CO2 to complete a 60 shot match. No weighing, no bleeding off, no overfilling ...

Pardini firing pin

Do you often drop the hammer on an empty chamber? The sharp shoulder design of the SP firing pin places great stress on the juncture of the pin and the end cap (terminology?) if the forward momentum of the unit is not absorbed by a cartridge base. The original design of the High Standard firing pins...

Plain metal target with 9 ring cutout

I like the coffee can idea, but I think I'll use a bucket,... or a washtub.

Airgun matchesin CT

If you are looking for air pistol matches there are two each month. One at Manchester Shooters Inc in Manchester and one at the Silver City Gun Club in Meriden. There is a match this Thursday 2/23 at Silver Citry. Details are on the club website. I don't know of any air rifle matches except the annu...

SSPs

There. Now that I've spouted off for a bit, and forgot to address the question.... Buy the IZH. It's an excellent pistol and I see lots of them on the firing line. If you like it, great, stay with it until you feel you need something better and have an chance to try out the more expensive guns. They...

re K58

I have a K58. Sometimes I use the sliding weight to improve the balance and steady the muzzle, and sometimes I don't use it. Right now I'm not. It's very nice to have though. I too found cocking the K58 using my arms and chest muscles to be a bit of a chore in a 60 shot match, especially now that th...

AP matches in MA

Where in MA are you? There are AP matches in Manchester and Meriden CT which would be OK if you are in Western MA.

I have one and used it for a while. Then one night after a match I thought I'd find out what would happen if I shot five horribly deformed (squashed skirts) Nygord pellets through by Pardini K58. Match was finished, no pressure, so I just sort of casually shot them. Result was four tens and a nine+....

I agree with GOVMODEL. The Ruger will take you a long way with a cleaned up trigger and decent grips. Don't go overboard and spend a lot of money on it as you may end up with a $500 gun that you have $900 invested in. And if you stick with bullseye you will undoubtedly end up with a Hammerli, Walthe...

Experience with new SAM K-15?

I've been shooting a Pardini K58 for a few years and like it very much. But at age 66 I'm beginning to tire a bit towards the end of 60 shot matches, and maybr it's time for a new toy. Does anyone have any experience with the SAM K-15 they can share? Don Nygord has it for what seems to be a reasonab...
