Back after a long time with more sad news

Hi All! It has been a while. This year, I tried again for state meet to score 345/400 and could manage to score only 334. 50 mins of time were given to shoot those 40 shots. I actually shot last 16 shots in last 10 mins. Which were really much better than the previous 24. Hand started shaking and .....

Finally checked the eyes

Today, I went for an eye check. And yes, the powers are fluctuating. I developer + power now, 1.25 in each eyes, and -ve power also increased in the right. All in all, what it means I need a progressive lens to focus my eyes in the target. Sorry for being absent for much time - lot of crazy things a...

Walther all the way

I can safely now... say this.
Everyone in my range shoots Steyr. Almost everyone. 2/3 shoots Morini.
Each of them had a go at my Walther LP 500 Basic.
And they loved the trigger. Loved it. Loved the mechanism.

Mine is basic

Yep, they did change.
Even the basic model is pretty low end basic now - not having the ported barrel and all.
Shame.
I have the lowest one.
They call it "Economy".

Re: The New ISSF Air Pistol Finals Format

These are interesting changes. They are progressing in the direction of 25 Rapid Fire Pistol. I think they should just make anything above 9.5 a 1.0 hit and rest a miss. In fact better, at finals only 10s should be counted. I am certain there are not enough formally minded people in the ISSF. One ca...

Re: Cleaning lead dust ?

I get tested yearly, for lead exposure, due to routinely working at an indoor firing range. It has never been a problem, for me or any of the staff under my command. I know of one range officer, from another agency, who tested high in 2012. He stayed off the range for 30 days, and tested normal aft...

Cleaning lead dust ?

Hi All, Today I was cleaning my pellet collector for the target. There were a lot of pellets collected, which I safely put inside some bag. But I collected the destroyed pellets using bare hand ( my bad ) - and there were fine dust of lead. Which I cleaned it with soap water multiple times. Also Vac...

Re: Newbie shooting question

What are you doing about shooting glasses? Young eyes can deal with refocusing on the front sight throughout a match, but it's much easier if you use a lens to bring your relaxed focus in closer to the front sight. The older you get, the more of an issue it becomes. There are tons of posts on the s...

Re: Old man wants to keep shooting but seeks advise

It's doable. The best thing would be to get a set of Rink grips with a 7 degree offset (twist). That allows you to keep your grip pretty much the same, but your sights will line up naturally. They are made specifically for this sort of situation. Ditto. I did buy that - and it is improving things.

So, you survived Covid. With our without vaccine? I am double vaxed. Omicron hits you anyways. Pretty mild once you have double vaxed. Only trouble it did create with my colleagues is bad stomach upset. This is today. I think I am coming to terms with my old grip. I can grip it. I can shoot it. And...
