Thanks everybody!
Keeping this alive: looks like (at least at this point) the top votes are split between Steyr and FWB; Morini seems well behind. Interesting that nobody vouched for Pardini, and Walther / Hammerly are just mentioned as "they are used" :)

Pilkguns.com certificate issues
I think I've seen some message here before, but cannot find it, so restarting the topic.
Does anybody have any info about plans/prospects for Pilkguns.com getting functional anytime soon?

Best brand of AP for the long term cost (US)
Variation of a very frequent question here, but usually it is focused on what is best to shoot (answer - whatever works for you) Out of 5 major brands, what do you think is the best wrt. long term cost - ease of access to support, spare parts, servicing, turnaround for repairs/service, etc.? Especia...

Re: How many DIFFERENT pairs of eye glasses do I need?
I have a lot of glasses. 1. Reading. Not for shooting, too close focus 2. Computer 3. Distance - never use in real life, just weirdness of my vision 4. Iron sights. I use computer prescription, never understood why safety glasses work differently, had to order special safety ones (with the same pres...

Re: Yet another cleaning thread
Simple rule I follow for my High Standards (when I follow any rules, that happens sometimes):
I have an ECI that is sized very well for: if it fits tight - time to brush the chamber
When I have an itch to clean (less and less, at most once per season) - clean completely

Re: question about AV-46m (IZH-46m)
If a gun is new, probably something else is going on, but for the old one - I asked the same in https://targettalk.org/viewtopic.php?p=325955 For me this narrowed down to spring #13. If I manually expand it, the problem fixes for awhile, but reappears pretty soon, meaning that the spring is just wor...

No idea what it is, but I am pretty sure it is not Margolin. Or a heavily-butchered one that lost its hammer?

Re: Air shutter Baikal IZH-46M never opens after initial pump
A combination of hard (tin) pellets with oversized skirts and worn seals could be the problem. The pistol may only have enough force to get the tin pellets started in the bore. Then they would fire more normally on the second attempt. Exactly the problem I had recently, but I did not recognize from...

Re: Air shutter Baikal IZH-46M never opens after initial pump
All signs seem to point to pistol seal (#5). Happened to me when I used apparently wrong airtool oil. Secondary suspect - valve seat. And I second the idea of using minimal amount of oil, if any at all. Original instructions for Izh have only recommendation of lubing pistol seal, and only if pumping...

Re: Izh 46(M) breech block
With the knowledge that replacing the valve seal sorted things out for you, can I ask where you got a replacement item from please? I got spares loooong ago, while they were still sold. Seal replacement actually did not help to keep the breech up for too long, now it is flopping again. Stretching s...

Re: Izh 46(M) breech block
An update. Looks like another thing that keeps the breech up is air pressure. Replacing valve seal fixed the problem for me.

AV 46M opinions
Did anybody have recent experiences with Air Venturi AV-46M? I believe I saw some negative reports about early versions, hopefully it improved, but I did not see anything more recent. How does it compare with Izzy, the same, or some degrade of quality?
TIA

Re: Izh 46(M) breech block
It's been a while since I was inside one, but I think it stays up by virtue of the shape of the lower surfaces of the block where meets up with the valve stem (#17). It has a camming action, and if the surfaces of the lower corner of the block get worn, it may not want to stay up. Thank you, as usu...
