Also had only two sessions in August. Happy to see the results didn't slide off the cliff.

Re: Porting barrel - by hand ( gunsmith )

I suggest you sell the gun and buy one with a ported barrel. It will end up cheaper (since you are clearly not set up with tools for the job yet), easier, and it won't ruin the resale value of your gun.

Yeah, it doesn't look good.

Too bad, I liked the guy's style. It helps that after getting disappointed with so many people in the past few years shrugging off people comes easy tho.

Re: Newbie shooting question

What Gwhite says. Yesterday I went to the range in "wrong" shoes and couldn't break a 90 in five series straight. Of course I was wondering if the shoes have anything to do with that. Towards the last one however I got tired dwelling on it and just concentrated on sight picture and trigger...

Books do cover that. Pistol Shooting the Olympic Disciplines describes stance leaning etc in excruciating detail for each discipline.

Re: Standing...

Most top shooters appear to be standing in-line, so this is probably the optimal stance for a top athlete that has all other variables dialed in. However there is no need to be dogmatic early on: the effect of stability for novice shooter is perhaps the least important after grip, lift technique, ai...

Was hard to get going; used up 30 sighting shots, went halfway into 2nd serie when found out the Megalink target is glitching. First shot what I called a low 9 but it registered as 0.0. Incredible enough but I had no w...

My first full "match" shot after breaking my ribs on a field shooting stage in early June. Pleased to see that despite very reduced training the results did not fall back.

As Gwhite mentions, double breathing accounts for much of the visible hold time in top AP competitions.

That was the point of Free Pistol though: (almost) no restrictions on the gun. So trigger weight have evolved to what it was because it was optimal.

Re: ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun, Croatia 2021 –

Free pistol, which was seen as the ultimate precision discipline, was banished from Olympics in 2016. Plenty people are upset about this, including this Serbian athlete.

The cameraman made sure to focus on this multiple times too.

It's certainly not impossible (even on my Margolin that has no slide lock). Just not as handy.

On my part it's not something to choose the gun over though.

Re: To lock open or not....?

Lock open is useful when you need to flag/show safe after each string. Perhaps not that much a concern with ISSF but nice to have when you use the gun for other events where you have to.

Oh but of course. Didn't realize it as clubs here tend to forbid 9mm on 25m ranges to avoid ruining electronic scoring systems.

I own one of these for Norwegian Field Shooting we have going here. It's a dedicated target pistol but don't think there's any international academic shooting discipline with 9x19.

Quite an improvement over my pb of 518. What did it was controlling that the weight is equally distributed on both feet: I tended to lean back too much. Could well be better had I not stressed after that round of 94.
