Re: Who shoots other disciplines?

Might be symantecs, I know people that pattern their shotguns by Rifle Shooting them, i.e. Lining up the beads like you would line up the sights on your target gun, which I would call aiming. Pointing would be like when I throw up my short barreled pistol and shot it without looking at the sites to ...

Re: New Member From New York

I got a 35M as that what was what a friend told me I should get and it is nice to have everything new and unused in the box with the paperwork still unopened. As I said, I am fortunate to have a couple of Russian friends that have made me a translated copy. I paid $458.00 for it delivered, so I am o...

Re: New Member From New York

A friend of mine bought one that was most definitely used, but still had the chunky block of wood with it and all the accessories, though the brushes were obviously used. Also did not have the waxed wrapping paper. I would think that at one point the Russians had a lot of shooters practicing for com...

Re: New Member From New York

Yep Ricardo, you are correct. I finally got a definitive answer from the State Firearms Control Board. I was hoping that the tubular magazine, with its horizontal configuration would be exempt. Probably would have if people knew to make a case for it when the Safe Act came out, but not it is too lat...

Re: Who shoots other disciplines?

Shotgun sports are not really based on aiming. TO shoot a shotgun well you have to have a good fit and a good mount. If your gun fits you and you are consistent in how you mount it, then you don't aim it, you keep your head on the gun and it shoots where you are looking. The gun should become a natu...

Re: Olympic Pistol = Precision Shooting

I love to shoot, but don't shoot that well, but any kind of competition, even if I come in dead last spices it up for me.

Re: Patched vs. two eyes

I think I will try a test from my Ransom rest. Set up the gun and shoot with various eyes and eye combinations and see what happens. At my age I have a muscle issue and although cataract surgery brought my sight back to 20/20, I have a convergence problem, which requires Prism correction and still n...

Re: Shooting While Seated

Thanks guys. I already shoot bench rest and have shot High Power rifle where you shoot prone / sitting and Offhand, but just wondered if there was any pistol disciplines that included seated shooting of any kind.

Re: Patched vs. two eyes

I am cross eye dominant and use an ocluder on my glasses (started with a piece of the not so transparent scotch tape. For pistol shooting though I have used a patch. For benchrest rifle I need to see the wind flags with my one eye while sighting through the scope and for Skeet I need to be able to g...

Shooting While Seated

Are there any competitive disciplines that have a Seated shooting category?

Re: Eyesight Issue

Mine turned out to be an astigmatism in my left eye, cataracts in both and a convergence issue do to aged mussels. I would get what looked like a start rather than a dot looking through a red dot. Post cataract surgery, 20/20 in both eyes as long as one eye was closed otherwise I say double in brigh...

Re: New Member From New York

I looked around and there appears to he a lot of TOX-35Ms out there. Some are New Old Stock and some are listed as Slightly Used. All the ones that I found had the unfinished grips back in the box with them, so I think most peope bought custom grips, which is what I intend to do with mine. I am not ...

Re: New Member From New York

Thank you, I probably have to start to focus and based on all that is going on, it will probably be more pistol now a days. I shoot Registered Skeet and shoot Benchrest - 1,000 Yard at Williamsport where I am a member, 100/200/300 at Cherry Ridge and Mid-Jersey and 600/800 at a few ranges. At my hom...

New Member From New York

I am a new member from New York. Live in both New York City - Manhattan - and on the East End of Long Island - Sag Harbor. Haven't shot more than casual pistol for many years, but enjoy club shoots with my S&W Model 41 and model 52 as well as a High Standard Victor. Nice in their day, but not li...
