Re: Old eyes
Follow up on the above....use a translucent blinder on the non-shooting eye, to balance the light intensity and ease the concentration problem.

Re: Old eyes
74 yoa. Cataract surgery 5 years ago. I have been using the astigmatism/magnification rear sight optics since before COVID, attached to the FWB 800W, left hand, and an adjustable front sight. I have no problems as you describe, but without the hardware, sight definition is not so good, especially th...

Re: Remove cylinder after each session?
Rover's idea with the notch is top notch. It allows using a spacer with minimal unscrewing of the cylinder. The slot would be as wide as the cylinder's threaded inserted end. It looks like it would work with my P8x, and most pistols which allow access from below, but there would be no advantage with...

Remove cylinder after each session?
I shoot both 10m pistol and rifle at home for personal non-competitive pleasure. I am now shooting a FWB 800W rifle about 6 times a week, about 50 shots per session. I have a compressor, so I keep the pressure range between 90 and 180 bar, charging only when the pressure drops into the hashmark red ...

Re: Foot Markers - ISSF legal solutions?
GW is of course right about 10m airpistol not being the same as 10m airrifle. I got carried away as I often do, here because my main interest and attention is in rifle shooting. But maybe being aware of and responsive to consistent body position should not be equated to being obsessed with, and wast...

Re: Foot Markers - ISSF legal solutions?
Addendum to my previous long winded post...I shoot rifle left eyed and left handed, explaining the layout of my shooting mat, which would be unworkable for a right handed shooter. A mirror replica would be required.

Re: Foot Markers - ISSF legal solutions?
Consistency is one of the important considerations in achieving ever improving results. A previous post may have been a polite way of saying to you of the many things needed to improve, repeatedly consistent foot position may not be on the top line - however, consistency is on that line. The effect ...

More to satisfy morbid curiosity than to help you fix the problem (rmca has done a good job for you), a question - Is this a new problem on an airgun that once placed ok, or has this always been the case? Is this a newly acquired airgun? What happened in the gun's history to cause the problem, or to...

Re: Rear sight shifted too far to one side
Thanks Tim. What do you mean by "vertical"? It is a Feinwerkbau 800x and the tube can be extended but I have it as far back as possible. I have noticed that when moving it forward or backward it has a slight rotation clearance and if I extend it forward the problem gets worse, so maybe th...

Adam: You should be able to precisely locate center, both vertically and laterally, without need to measure - - crank the adjustment to one end or the other, being gentle and slow so as not to damage the sight - go the other end of the adjustment range, counting the clicks to get there - divide by t...

Re: FWB 600 shooting high
I have had a FWB 602 since it was new (bought it sight unseen from defunct Beeman) but was never really happy with its 'fit' until I recently worked with it as a package deal, not just cranking this adjustment, or that one. Since you report an unworkable sight situation, you might benefit from my ex...

Don't have experience with the Gamo Compact but did a little research for you... Pyramyd Air hosts Tom Gaylord's longtime blog of all things airgun. This is the same Gaylord of the turn of the millennium AirGun Newsletter fame. He has reviewed the Gamo Compact at least twice in the last 15 years, an...

Re: Trigger position
Eureka!
"Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the earth." Of course, Bubba didn't say how far he'd have to yank his end, and how far the earth would move.
Force, work, stuff like that.

Re: Home Range Camera
I use an Amcrest brand surveillance camera connected to a computer/monitor which is visible from my shooting position. The connection is via wi-fi so no wires are needed; the set-up is always ready and can be initiated in seconds. The camera and software was under $50 on good 'ole Amazon as I rememb...

What works for me, and has not been mentioned to this point in this thread: -500 g trigger pull (~520g for a safety margin) split 375 - 380 first stage, remainder second stage. - All travel on first stage ; a "wall" is reached at the second stage -Careful application of additional pressure...

False report of Feinwerkbau P8X demise
I am a devoted FWB owner and was surprised and saddened to read that production of the FWB P8X was discontinued. (The post was contained a the end of a recent thread, "Feinwerkbau P8X review; how to improve it".) Specifically, "rmca wrote: ↑ Wed Nov 17, 2021 7:12 pm PirateJohn wrote: ...

It sounds like you are interested in the details to -1) shoot better, and -2) learn something. A (somewhat dated) bible in these matters is A.A. Yur'yev's Competitive Shooting , 399 pp., published by the NRA, 1985. He goes on for between 150 - 200 pages on all things physiological and neurological r...

Re: Question about scuba tank fullness....
Just for fun I tried to calculate the weight of air in the air cylinder of my Steyr. I used dimensions and weights from the internet so there are lots of opportunities for errors. My result? 20 grams going from empty to 200 BAR. Of that you might use 13 grams going from full to 70 BAR. I get about ...
