Westy has given you some good advice, if you are looking at the cheaper end of the deal, the Anschutz 8002 is cheaper than the 9003. Walther LG-300XT is cheaper than the Anatomic or Protouch or Carbontec. The Steyr LG-110 is cheaper than most other makes. FWB 700 Al is not cheap but probably the bes...

Walther, FWB, Anschutz, Steyr, they are all good.
Each have their own designs but all will take you right to the top.

Its down to how they feel in the hand for you and how they handle for you.

There is not a 'best' air rifle amongst these makes, its what is best for you.

That was very interesting. They say the Steyr absorber is the most effective of all and Anschutz also use the Steyr absorber in their 9003 air rifle.

Brian I fully agree with your sentiments. Most of the German designers of such guns as FWB, Walther and Anschutz, seem to be un sung heroes and never seem to be promoted by the company they work for. They always seem to be faceless people hidden away in the dark depths of the factory. It seems that ...

There is very little maintenance needed on the Walther. Just wipe down the metal work with a silicone gun cloth after use. Shooting felt pellets through after shooting is OK. Make sure that no lubricants find their way into the valve and firing pin mechanism and keep the cylinder threads free of dus...

Don't bin the 75, once serviced and up and running, they are every bit as good as a FWB or Anschutz of that period and will shoot 10's in the right hands. I like the 75 because the sights don't move when you fire it.

Which ever shoe you get, its a good idea to buy the shoe 'spanner' to fit on the sole when they are not in use. This helps to keep the sole flat and prevents curl up. Anschutz do some good boots. Kurt Thune also do a standing only boot. One very good make you don't often see is the Truttman shooting...

I got 420 shots out of mine. Walther and FWB also have a dry fire system and they also have stabilisers fitted, although the Steyr stabiliser seems to be the most efficient at almost eliminating felt recoil. Some people don't like a completely 'dead' gun on firing preferring to feel a tiny kick. It ...

All of the rifles you mention are good. There may be some price difference between them but all will out shoot you. Sure, the FWB is the most popular round the world, but the Steyr holds the world record and a Walther got the men's gold in Athens. Its how the rifle feels and handles is what you must...

Its a great rifle and i see from sales that it out sells the Carbontec in Europe.
I wonder how long it will be before FWB start offering a laminate stock like the Anatomic?

Spencer is right, 60-mm is the height limit as measured from the centre of the muzzle bore to the centre of the fore sight tunnel. Read the rules. I would suggest you get raiser blocks that are adjustable in height using spacers so you can fine tune your head position. Centra are good but i like the...

Sauer and Corami seem to have a wider fit than the others.
Kusterman are a narrow fit. Corami are my favourite because they are dead flat and come with 3 different insoles. The lace eyelets also lock down on the lace so you don't lose lace tension.

Are you shooting 3-P air rifle or just standing?

Keep to canvas rather than leather as it is much more supporting.

Monard are pretty good and offer made to measure on their standard range which is a good price when compared to other brands made to measure. Check out Monard USA.

I think Walther supply stock and barrel weights for the LG-30 which can up the rifle to adult weight and keep it balanced nice as well.

David is probably right, you won't find any data [published] on pellet grouping from the pellet manufacturers. They will have their own test barrels but there are too many other factors out side their control for a set of figures to be published, they would be meaningless. When i visited the FWB fac...

Not sure about clubs in the Birmingham area only to say as Rob did there are a few. A good target dealer is City Air Weapons in Solihull which is an outer suburb of Brum. They will know where the clubs are as will the NSRA Club finder.

Nick I don't think the MEC trigger is irrelevant, its just the trend with some good back up physics behind the principle. Pretty expensive though. Not sure if your trap has an angled deflector plate, if it does, you can make it real quiet by replacing the angled plate with some nylon/polypropylene board. I got a food chopping board from my local store about 6-mm thick and cut it to size. We have used this chopping board material in our club an...
