Re: Custom Grips for my Baikal IZH 46M pistol

Thank you David, I did think that I sent that post, but some of us in this age group, not all, forget some things! Thanks for reminding me.

Re: Custom Grips for my Baikal IZH 46M pistol

Hi, I don't think that I am doing this correctly because I thought that I answered this before several months ago but I don't see my final post which shows that I decided to make the grips myself and did so from an old Walnut tree from my own ground. I thought that I posted photos here but I don't s...

Re: Custom Grips for my Baikal IZH 46M pistol

I have a Baikal IZH-46M with the stock grips and they are truly awful -- too big and totally uncomfortable. But now I'm having custom grips made by Steve Corcoran (web site is https://www.scstocksandgrips.com/). He has a great website that shows the beautiful walnut grips he'll make for this gun an...

Trouble with Diana .22 and .177 Scope Use

Hi, i have two RWS Diana air rifles in both calibers, .22, side pump, and .177, break open. After the guns are scoped and sighted in at about 40 yards, and I go back to the same target, pellet, and distance, the pellets are either 5 inches or 5 inches low from where they were hitting a few days earl...

Re: Baikal IZH-MP-46M

Never really got the whole 46M thing. It is a very accurate pistol make no mistake but Its just too plain ugly and ungainly for my liking. I much prefer say a FAS tuned up to the point where it cuts clean cards and then enjoying the less weight, nicer grips without mods and much nicer styling. Howe...

Re: New Grips for a Baikal M46 target pistol

GKenny those are beautiful for having little or no woodworking time before. That piece of wood has some nice figure also. I used to smoke a pipe years ago and loved to look at the burl they were made from. It really comes alive when the finish is applied. Nice job. Stan Hi Porkchop, Thank you very ...

Ade C wrote: Mon Aug 24, 2020 10:23 am I'd love to see the grips you made. The simplest way to add pictures is to drag and drop into the message box

Thank you, Ade C, but I don't know where the "message box" is located and do I send along with my original post above or separately?

New Grips for a Baikal M46 target pistol

Hello again, A few weeks ago I mentioned that I was very happy with my Baikal M46 target pistol, but I was very unhappy with the original grips. They were made from a very plain wood, had an adjustable hand rest and contained 6 holes in the grips for mounting and adjusting. To me they were ugly and ...

Re: Custom Grips for my Baikal IZH 46M pistol

Since your grips are ugly, you won't hurt them by making them fit. If you have a drill, buy a rasp to fit it and go to town, taking off anything that feels or looks odd or that hurts. Go to the hardware story and buy the cheapest "kneadable" two part epoxy. Build up the grip until it poin...

Custom Grips for my Baikal IZH 46M pistol

Hi, I hope all are making out OK with this terrible virus! I am very worried mainly because I am 80 years old. I want to replace the original grips on my Baikal 46M air pistol. They have the large adjustable plate on the bottom and are terrible looking. My first choice would be figured Walnut grips ...

Re: Baikal IZH-MP-46M

Hi Kenny, Also, it is helpful, if you have a smart phone, to take photos at each stage before you disassemble to next stage. Then you have a record of what it should look like if you forget where bits go. We have a bunch of these pistols at our Club and they don’t look too complicated to me to take...

Re: Baikal IZH-MP-46M

There are essentially two seals. The large piston seal that you remove from front, and a small inner seal you go from back. Do the front piston seal repair, that should be straight forward. Putting it back might be a challenge, but very doable. The inner seal, I will say forget it. Done it, but cur...

Re: Baikal IZH-MP-46M

Thank you Gwhite, I agree 100% and tomorrow I will get to Home Depot and get a bottle! My next step is taking the gun apart, although I am not sure exactly what to do, if you have any basic suggestions I will appreciate any help from you or seamaster. Thanks again for staying with me on this, it is...
