Re: Beginner needs help...
Tim, I have bunch of those heat gear shirts to wear as baselayer. Do I have to wear that thick shooting sweater? It is nice with elbow patches and feel comfortable if it is not making even hotter! I won’t mind if I am just hot and not sweating crazy. Real distraction. But with the jacket and sling l...

Re: Beginner needs help...
Right now the most uncomfortable part of this sport is wearing that heavy and hot jacket. Feel like I am doing sauna even in my air conditioned home. What would be like in 90s degree temperature outdoors? Getting used to that will be the most challenging part. You get hot in a shooting jacket, but ...

"Thanks for your response. Now I have to ask a dumb question. My scope is 3X15. Is it 5X or 15X? If it is 15X, it is not too far away. I have no range to test this. I hope I can make it work." No dumb questions. It's both, and more. 3x to 15x variable. There is a third number and that is ...

Re: Beginner needs help...
I read comments about under 18X I won't be able to see bullet holes shot at 100 yards Seeing the holes is as much matter of the quality of the lenses, as the power. I see bullet holes at 100 yards easily with a 15x Lyman SuperTargetspot, while friend has problems with a lower quality 24 power scope...

What a beautiful rifle!analretentive wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 1:46 pm Hi Gunter,
I figured it out. Slooooowly. This is my old equipment and the start of something new. I ran into some health issues a few years back and sold everything.

I need help from you experts with my scope and shooting with a scope. My SWFA SS 3-15x42 came back from warranty service with a replacement. I installed it and went to the range to shoot with twice. I see a big improvement on my shooting. I guess my aim is better as I can see my target better instea...

Hi from my Sierra ballistics calculator: a .22 bullet of 40gr at 1050ft/sec, zeroed at 100yds, scope hight 2", gives the following values: 26yds - + 2" 50yds - + 3.75" 85yds - + 2" 100yds - zero should give you a rough idea! Can't copy the page from the program - must be protect...

Re: Beginner needs help...
So, shooting with your elbows rested on a bench? That won't fully replicate any regular shooting position*. I'm not surprised that your results are sometimes erratic, as you are relying on your arms to support a 12-14lb rifle. Target positions all emphasis not muscling the rifle onto aim. I don't w...

Re: Beginner needs help...
loosening that screw allows you to slide the grip back and forth. OK. Got it. But what is the black screw? Thanks. I can't remember what that countersunk black screw is, it might be holding some aluminium bracing part into the wood stock, just leave it alone. Do your action screws around 4.5Nm, for...

Re: Beginner needs help...
How are you shooting at present, if you can oy wear the jacket and sling at home? Standing? From a bench? Prone unsupported? I'm tempted to say that unsupported shooting from position won't tell you much about your technique or how/where to adjust the rifle. I believe there is a place for training ...

Re: Beginner needs help...
Tim, I do have a torque wrench (in lbs.inch) like this: Is this accurate enough? Could not find better option. Look at conversion chart, some recommended torque settings (5-6 Nm) seem to be really tight. I can't comment on the accuracy of that, but 1 Nm steps seem rather coarse. Mine goes in 0.1Nm ...

Re: Beginner needs help...
I will spend more time tonight to check it out. So once I identify those action screws, do I just tighten them ( I saw some recommended numbers) or tune the screws for different ammo? Thanks a lot! Hand tight will do at first. Some shooters do test fire over a range of torque values to find a sweet...

Please forgive my ignorance - too new and still working hard and learning stuff. Where are 'the action screws' for a Walther KK300 Anatomic rifle? Any pictures will greatly appreciated! I know these are pretty stupid questions for you experts out there. I am really having a hard time to figure out. ...
