Re: Proper use of spotting scope

That's something to keep an eye on when shooting practice match, as the shooter and pistol warm up is the MPI of the group moving. If you know what is happening your groups over the course of a match it save a lot of tinkering and head scratching after the first card.
Thanks

Re: Proper use of spotting scope

I knew my question would get a bit of debate going, and Im enjoying reading your views. When I asked the question it was after using a scope for the first time, and I found myself trying to adjust after looking at each shot on the target. I felt this was wrong, and I was using the scope for the wron...

Re: Proper use of spotting scope

The Marksman and Sharpshooter is looking to see where the shot went, the Master and High Master are simply verifying their shot was as called
Very well put, and explains a lot to me.

Proper use of spotting scope

Im looking for some help on using a spotting scope while practicing .22lr pistol, 25m precision training. I used a spotting scope for the first time last weekend, prior to this I would shoot 5 or 10 round groups and then go up and look at my target, and try and read what the group is telling me. Wit...

Re: Coaching Corner

The majority of people list aiming then trigger control, is it not a case that you are putting pressure on the trigger before you have your sights centred on the target? In my opinion aiming and trigger control are way more inter linked, so its more aiming/trigger control, not 2 separate acts. Of co...

Re: Eyewear confusion

Just an update, I haven't purchased any of the reading glasses but instead I am going to experiment with an old pair of my varifocal glasses. I purchased the pistol eyepal (so that I could easily move it around the lens) I have placed it on the lens where it gives me the best sight and target pictur...

Re: Eyewear confusion

Thanks ShootingSight. I had a look yesterday locally and could not see glasses lower than +1.25, so I will buy online, and try them out. Im using my variable focal's at the moment and as you can imagine my head is up and down to get the clearest sight picture. Im wondering can the optician measure t...

Re: Eyewear confusion

[One cheap way to check that is to go to a dollar store and buy +1.00 reading glasses.
Pop one of the lenses from the frame and tape it to your prescription glasses.

Yes I think I will try that out, and look for a happy medium as I don't want the target too fuzzy

Re: Pardini last round hold back mod

A spare firing pin is still a better option, load your 5 rounds and fire them and forget about it, by doing anything else your bringing something new into your pre shot routine which you don't really need, What happens when you forget to load your blank 6th round and you remember after 1,2,3,4 shots...

Re: Pardini last round hold back mod

I bought an older model SP last year and read about the last round hold open to, but decided against it as well. The only mod I did was to the magazine to increase the round count to 6.

Re: Buying Advice: Match or Plinking Pistol

You have lots of pistols to choose from in Germany, both my pistols have been purchased from Germany, I have a Hammerli Xesse and a Pardini SP, from your club guns which one do you like the best and does it give you the best scores. Dont be worrying about buying a used match pistol, they are well ma...

A small candle works well, too. Now your taking me back, back in my military days I used to shoot the 9mm Carl Gustaf SMG, and 9mm Browning auto pistol here in Ireland, and in competitions we would darken the front sights with a candle, we discovered if you got your hands on a blessed candle they d...

Re: Walther GSP Trouble Shooting?

Gwhite, I have recently purchased an older model Pardini SP that wouldn't cycle CCI stn, same as your shooter I was having stove pipes, mis feed, jams etc. Two things I done this week before shooting it was, 1. I took the magazines apart and thoroughly cleaned them, when I had them apart I stretched...
